Ok after removing upgrade Im putting old one back took the 150amp to an alternaotr shop and they cant do anything with it, NOW I need to know what sequence the 3 wires go back into factory alternator plug. cant find it in FSM anyone??
Here are a some pictures showing where the stock wires are on the stock alternator and where they go on the new alternator. These have mentioned and posted in other threads but this will hopefully keep this together in one thread. The pin outs are shown with the color codes that I know of so far. Any mistakes please point them out to me so I can correct them.
The idea is just to pop out the 3 existing wires from the stock 80 amp alternator connector and push them in the holes of the new connector until they click in.

The "L" pin is for the idiot "L"ight"

The "IG" pin is hot with the "IG"nition on. It must have power with the key on or the alternator will not work.

The "S" pin "S"enses the voltage and adjusts output. Always has power to it.

The "M" pin is not used on the cruiser.

What did the shop say about the alternator? Did they think it had a bad voltage regulator?
Did you get a second opinion at another parts store?

Toyota doesn't sell just the regulator but you can get an aftermarket one.

There's only three or four screws and a wire clamp to replace it.

Surely the second alternator will work. Good luck and glad you got the wiring figured out.

been weeks since I re installed the 150 alternator and its working like a champ, thanks to @Photoman for answering my dumb questions and walking me through this mod, worked out perfectly and looks OEM

Thank you. It had to be frustrating for you with a bad new alternator but happy you were finally able to sort it out.

Some people wanted an adapter to go from the stock alternator connector to the 130/150 amp alternators so I made some. This makes the upgrade a plug and play as far as the small wires go.

I bet these are only for '93 up guys... (?)

so with all this talk of the fusible link, instead of putting some other fuse, cant you run a fusible link from a sequoia that was designed for the alternator?

Pretty sure there are no fusable links on tundras or segouias . I think they used breakers or fuzes. You could use the same.

Many people install second fuze boxes.

They are still very different. You need to change fuse boxes to use that type of fusable links. The one for the 80 is more like a pigtail and is a wire.

I don't know how the plugs look under but if they are the same...you may be able to upgrade fuseboxes and add extra slots which would be desirable for other accessories. Would be great to documentation something like that on mud

I completed the install last night. I purchased the complete kit (bracket, pulley, wiring pigtail), and everything was easy and top notch! I couldn't be happier with how it went (other than the dropped nuts, bolts, bloody knuckles, etc that come from working on a vehicle).

I did the upgrade because the voltage regulator on my stock alternator went out, and since I needed to replace the alternator, it was the proper time to upgrade. Great product! Thanks @Photoman for the research, testing, design, and execution of such a neat fix!
