How do you make these so quickly... can you do a "how it's made?" Very cool

I will tell you when I retire :)

It may look quick and easy, but some of these items have actually been under concept / development for some time; some have failed too, or at least not yet succeeded. Don't ask me why there isn't a reproduction floor mat yet :crybaby:

In general everything is made the old fashion way, either by building a mould from scratch or partner with a supplier that has access to a mould and/or the right tools. I'm guessing the big shops like CCOT and SOR take similar approaches for creating their exclusive offerings, but I'm probably a little crazier in that I mostly think about what I'd like to build than what's best for the bottom line.

Don't know if it has already been suggested but how about reproducing the early '63-'67 defrost hoses that come out of both sides of the heater and run behind the dash? Racer65, thanks for taking this stuff on! You are doing quite a service for all of us fellow cruiser owners.

Defrost hoses would be sweet!

I know I asked you about 55 parts before, but one thing that is really needed is a good piece of rubber for the fixed window in the rear doors.
Would you consider?
I have my originals I would lend to you for design...
The Pig community would be grateful...

It's technically feasible. However, I will confess ignorance about Pigs or the demand for Pig products. If you can find 20 buddies who need it, I suppose it can be considered as a group buy. Without doing the math, I think you will find that the cost will likely exceed OEM price if it were still available.

I have no idea what that piece cost OEM when it was available, or when it ceased to become available. I think it safe to say that everyone would accept that the price will be more than OEM.
I am referring to 6 & 7 in this piece here:

Can you point to a link where this photo can be found? I just want to check up some info such as part #, model years applicable, etc. Thanks.

looks like all years had this part:

WEATHERSTRIP, REAR DOOR QUARTER WINDOW, RH
68188-90351 RH. 1 $28.07
68189-90351 LH. 1 $28.07

Many of us 55 owners would gladly pay well over the OEM cost here.

Thank you for considering this, as most if not all OEM window rubber has been discontinued for our 55s.

While we are throwing stuff out there, how about the window rubber for the factory soft top doors wing window? That would be nice.

It does look like this piece covers 1968 to 7/80, or the entire production run for the FJ-55.

I got that link from the SOR website: http://www.sor.com/cat129.sor

There are some pics on my 55 build thread as well. Let me know if you want to see more.

Thanks for considering this! This would be an important piece.
