Well it has been about almost 10 years since I have wanted a vehicle with patina. Not all vehicles can pull it off IMHO.

Nobody in the 90's wanted a rusty vehicle. Not until the rat rods did anyone care about patina.

It's just a fad.

With the exception of the 45's I really can't see any increase in value have the patina look. Certainly not a 40. Because if it has a patina look there isn't much left elsewhere.

It's just a fad.

.

Everything in life is a fad. So either get with it or get left out.......... well except for rainbow colored engines, that is just gay :flipoff2:

Yeah, and I am hoping the MC Hammer pants and big baggy shirts come back around about the time my little :princess: gets to be a teenager...

Sap is down..... amazing how something that suppose to make things simple causes such problems when not working. Its skynet i yell ya....

SAP can be a company's biggest asset or biggest pain depending on how and who implements it. Did a few in my day and they went well, but have seen some real horrible implementations.

SAP is a sledgehammer. At my part time job we were one of the first major companies to use it, to many ways to do the same function and not enough "flow" in tasks. Once you learn job specific tasks though you are good.

Found!

Wife had lost her diamond wedding ring this spring. It was the original wedding ring.
Diamond solitaire given to me by my mom when Lynn and I married 40 years ago.
My Dad had won this diamond in Africa back at the end of WW2.
Made us both sick.
Bought her another ring. $$$$$$
Well this morning as I pulled the Trust Acct. checkbook from an office drawer I decide to clean up
the stack of papers in the drawer.
BINGO! Under the papers was the ring.
Lynn cried.
hehe....I'm looking to get lucky tonight!

Lost ring

Before amour, please tell us the story of your Dad winning the diamond. I smell screenplay!

No joke "winning" a diamond in Africa during WW2....

That's some serious luck man, if I were u I would be playing the Lottery. Glad u found it.

the luck

Lynn had also lost a complete set of keys. Office...etc....BIG headache.
This was months after the lost ring. (more on that below)
Re-keying P.O. Box and alarm keys and house keys and car keys...SHeeezh.
We had hunted for over 6 weeks. Gone. Last week I'm standing under the
arbor over the walkway. It's hot and sunny and I'm wearing the "monkey suit"
from work so I stand there just having let the pooch out when I got home.
I turn to go in and some sunlight peeked tru and something about waist high flashed
in the boxwood arbor. Those freaking keys were hanging on the tiniest of branch
of the boxwood. The branch was bending down but the keys were hanging on.
I mean...I weed eat that area. I walk thru there EVERY day. At least twice.
Blew my mind. The flash. The way they were snagged and where they were snagged.
I'll never forget it.
The whole ring find was odd too. I was looking for an old document for a client. Not
significant when I got it but here years later it was VERY significant.
Buried in the banker's boxes of paper and files....closed.
I found it right away. WHEW.
I told client he had a horseshoe up his ass. We laughed.

Next. Loan closing for an out of state buyer I represent.
I had Lynn busy at the fax machine and the new girl on the phones and
copying.
I sit at Lynn's desk trying to help. I pulled out the Trust Acct checks from the
drawer. Notice the old registries in bottom are not neat. Pick 'em up to shuffle them
and replace. The ring was in the bottom of the drawer. I bet those years of registers
hadn't be out of that drawer since each set went in after taxes etc.
They could have remained there till I burn the whole lot one day.

Now I know...it wasn't the client. Miracles happen every day.
Praise God.

Dad served in WW2 aboard the USS Saratoga. Mascot is a Fighting Gamecock.

Torpedoed and Kamikaze attacked. (incidentally...Lynn's Dad also served on the ship but he and my Dad
never met)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USS_Saratoga_(CV-3)

On the victory lap after the war they got some nice port calls.
People were so happy to greet them the sailors got a lot of stones and jewels
cheap.
My Dad laughed about how they determined fake from real. They hit 'em with a hammer and a piece of steel while wrapped in clothes. If they didn't shatter....they were real.
Still some opals, rubies and diamonds withstood the "test". We have a few.

This diamond wasn't one of those.

A shipmate during shore leave got drunk fell in love with a native girl. She picked out the ring.
His friends upon hearing all this notified the ship. Shore Patrol to the rescue.
Canceled his leave.
When all were back on board it was a great joke and the poor guy was embarrassed but grateful
to his loyal friends for his rescue.
Swearing to never marry he ran a raffle for the ring. Nice round stone with a great gob
of smaller stones all around.
It wasn't a cheap raffle then ....a dollar a pop.
Dad bought one. The winning one.
Mom had a ring but on occasions she would wear THE ring.

Mom would never admit it but I was her favorite of 3.
:grinpimp:
Lynn and I didn't have the time and couldn't bear to put the cost of an elaborate
soiree on our families.
We had met at Myrtle Beach as kids and were/are fast soul-mates.
We eloped to Pawley's island.
Married at All Saints. (great story but I shall not digress)

When we came home Mom presented me the ring to give to Lynn.
My older sister had agreed. They all love Lynn. Sis has the remaining diamonds.
She and Lynn cried twice. Losing it and recovering it.
I shed a sniffle too. Just couldn't let the girls see it.
:hillbilly:
Praise the Lord.

OT: just got back from Litchfield anniversary trip. Fantastic.
Check out this rainbow from the house's boardwalk to the beach.
crappy I-Pad pic doesn't do it justice.

Thanks Dave, glad your Dad made it through the war. Couple of friends served on USS Saratoga after the war. Pawleys Island is also special to my family!

Very different. Running before the sun comes up, outdoor showers, hot black coffee before 2 eggs over medium.
