just for the record i think both are a great product, I am running the 4+ ones. I had some problems with the rear shock mounts, search and you will see. It should be noted Mark run's the 4+ flip kit in the rear of his FJ40, we both ran in to shock mount problems and had to come up with our own solutions.

Ask the salesman to ship flat rate priority USPS. If they break down the original packing the flip kit will fit, two kits will fit in the large flat rate, 11.95 (i believe) Even with tracking and insurance it's barely over 15.00 shipping anywhere in the lower continental 48

The cost to ship the 4plus parts to the east coast force you to pre-plan, or pay dearly for that item you forgot to order.

Hey! What does that mean? OCD Don't get me started.....Just buy a star and give back to the place you're learning from......:)

HaHaHa. i didn't even put 2 & 2 together until this came up. See. it's contagious.

To Hawaii as well...We are the 50th state and interestingly enough, have similar USPS mail rates!

Another option is the U-bolt skid plates. I just took mine off because of spring over conversion. $50 if you want them, they're here on the coast.

Honestly though, don't start burning through money until you figure out which parts you're gonna break first due to you're wheeling style. THere's so much "stuff" to blow money on, it's silly to buy anything until you drive it enough to figure out what you need. Just my .02

I know what y'all are saying. I would like to save up for power steering. When I was hunting at my hunt club and had to go through some heavily rutted areas the Non-power steering took a toll on my elbows.

Duuuuuuuude. Relax. You don't have to buy everything under the sun just yet. Get your rig, drive it for awhile, and decide what mods you want to make.

But let me get this straight. You couldn't make up your mind between a 2.5" lift vs a 4" lift because you don't do much hard core wheeling. And now you want to flip your u-bolts for ... well, you kind of lost me. Yeah, it is a decent mod, but if you aren't going to be wheeling it that much, what's the point? If you plan on scraping your axles over rocks all the time, then yes, flip those u-bolts. If you are just going to run dirt roads, wait awhile.

It seems you agonize over every decision. Again, relax. Like I said, you don't have to buy everything just yet. Enjoy your rig for awile and then plan out your mods. If you feel like you need to get a u-bolt flip kit down the road, they will still be available.

With all that said, Mark is a forum member and I can't see him selling junk. On the flip side, the 4+ stuff MAF sells has a great reputation. I don't think you could go wrong either way.

Good luck with ALL your decisions!

Yeah, but ya gotta love the young feller's ambition and curiosity!!!

why did you not just buy the rockcrawler suspension kit from man a fre it has everything you could want SAFARI SUSPENSION 4-INCH ROCK CRAWLER KIT

I have the 4 Plus+ U-Bolt flip kits and they are some kinda stout. I've been very impressed with all the products Dave fabricates in his shop in Globe AZ. As far as the cost - they are well worth the money.

and contrary to Ian, I have not run into shock mount problems - no idea what the difference :meh:

Thought long and hard about it but didn't for 2 reasons. 1) $$$$ and 2) not enough reviews on it to make me feel comfortable.

So guys, let me ask this...... What if I am rebuilding a suspension? I am currently just about 100% complete with striping mine to the frame (https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/227848-tear-down-build-up.html ) . My plan is to build a simple, tuff looking, SOLID, DD. I don’t want to be afraid to get it out wheeling, however, I don’t ever plan on being into serious hardcore off roading. I look for it to be 75% street, 25% Off Road, 90% of my nuts & bolts were just cut off (Reasoning…B/C, I saw it as 30yr old rusted junk. I would feel much better just replacing nuts and bolts, where possible). So, YES, I cut off my U-Bolts. I have had it in my head all along, I was upgrading to these flip kits. Now, after reading this thread, I have my doubts. I can honestly say, they are probably not needed for what I plan with my truck. However, is this the time when I might as well “add it, while I am here” type of thing?

i've installed a few of the 4+ kits on customer vehicles and i like them quite a bit. well thought out and the parts fit/quality is excellent.

i'm not a big fan of re-using old u-bolts when i install new springs, so i usually get new ones. does'nt matter oif i'm doing a spring lift or going soa.

props to lcwizard once again.

sounds to me that with all the questions your asking thats what your going to end up with anyway just going to spend more in the long run

Good call on power steering. 2 trips to tellico without it with 35's about killed me. If you plan on wheeling much at all move it to the top of your list. Trust me you'll enjoy the wheeling alot more. Besides, for the money I spent on my u bolt flips from 4+ I could have been pretty close to getting the power steering in. Did plenty of good wheeling prior to getting the flips.I got a set of the newer stock plates that protect the bolts Ill give you if your still running the flat ones. Not sure what year you rig is.
