cut 15" off the shifter stalk, that would shorten the throw

I thought a paddle shifter would be the way to go

I'll depend on how long the paddles are, oar you could use oars.

Funny Story….when I put my 3 on the tree back together after restoration, inadvertently flipped the 90 degree dogleg linkage (by the clutch slave), with the longe leg to the transmission selector. There was about 2” of column shift travel at the end of the stalk….R to 1st and 2nd to 3rd……so if you need a column shift short throw, you can Get-R-Done🤣🤣🤣🤣

Put an FJ60 shifter stalk in it, they are shorter, less overall throw at the shifter ball. Further to reach from the seat though.

An automatic transmission swap would reduce the shift throw to none.

With the stalk directly engaging the transmission without any linkage on the floor shift configuration, the only way to shorten the throw is shorten the stalk.

If you switched to a 60 series top cover and bent the cane straight up might give a more reasonable feeling shorter came.

Increase the height of the shift tower and move the pins further up. Then find a newer shift cane that the section below the the pivot point is longer would shorten the throw as well. Most of these shifters have ball on the end that could be ground down to match the H41/H42 end.
