I spent yesterday afternoon teaching my neighbor how to weld and use a plasma cutter. We made a couple of brackets (glorified angle iron) for his '86 4Runner bull bar. His welds looked pro for a first timer.

Not Cruiser wrenching, but some home improvement. Mount TV on wall and run power and HDMI cables through the wall ... made a little tougher by the wall being an exterior wall.

If Sam can post a TV mount then I can post my new water heater. I thought I'd try those fancy new press-to-fit connectors. They go together WAY too easily for me to be comfortable. I'll go back to all sweated copper before long unless somebody can convince me otherwise. I'm just happy to see the gas flame in the window instead of my entire house.

John, I use them all the time to change from one pipe to another. They are fine as long as you grease the. O ring, and make sure there are no burrs on the end of the pipe. Best invention ever. I had the same concerns when I started using them, but I have never had one leak.
I've been using them for about 10 years now.

Got some good Dozer time in today and got my issues worked out so she's running pretty good now. Was experiencing a weird issue that she stumbled with the alternator running. Added a dedicated relay driven power wire for the WideBand 02 controller instead of running it off the "relay board" sharing a supply with the fuel pump. Hopefully it's off to Henry's for a bit of exhaust work this week, then to the tuner. SHE WILL BE ready for the meet and greet!

The key to any Shark Bite type fittings is to deburr like debenke said, an old friend works for the Sharkbite company. He told me to use one of these:

http://www.mscdirect.com/product/de...gle-PLA+-+Test&CS_003=7867724&CS_010=33271941

Works great. I have used them extensively with zero issues. The fittings that I have used came greased. just make sure the pipe is clean and de-burred and you are good to go. A good friend of mine was having issues with them until he got this tool. If you don't deburr with this tool or some other way, it will damage the o ring when you press them together. I like to use to convert from copper to PEX when doing repairs.

Couple more pics of the bumper swingouts with the spare tire and Hi-lift installed...

I really....really want that set up. lol. looks good buddy.

Anyone out there skilled in header installs? Got a quote for 15 hours and almost passed out. Took a good friend 5 hours the first time. These are the original dt headers that have only been on about 4 years and rusted out. Hopefully that helps with rusted bolts since these are only 4 years old vs 15 years old. They sent me a new set out of stainless steel and ceramic. Hit me with a pm and we can discuss logistics.

It works OK. Like everything else, it could use a tune up. The gun is a siphon feed so pressure is fair. It is there if needed. I can work around things as needed ;).
I also have a pressure feed for use outside. Did my frame with it a few years back.
