As fun as this was I just got word another rig was pulled into the shop tonight that the wheels fell off of. Pics to follow.

My 4Runner needs tires And my 80 wants tires.
The 4Runner is primarily my wife’s, so I have her talked into taking the 35s and mounting them on it, with the LX450 wheels. Which allows me to buy some 17 inch Toyota wheels off craigslist and 38s. I’m praying the 80 wheels and tires fit on her runner without cutting. pray for me people.

Discount Tire won't install 37+ tires on Toyota 17" wheels because the wheel is too narrow and it's a liability concern for them. I tried and was denied.

They won’t mount 35s either but will mount
315’s. Go figure, bean counters.

35x12.5x17 on my f150 a few years ago.

I've had 315s mounted on wheels at a local tire shop before too.

Wheel width compatibility to the tire width is probably more of a concern than the overall tire diameter.

Yeah, for tire installers, it's more about the tire width vs. the wheel width than the height of the tire. Most places won't put a 12.5 wide tire on a 7" rim, but they will on an 8" or wider. If the 37's are 12.50's and the rim is an 8" wide rim, they should do it. Now.....they may not want to guarantee balancing on a tire that big, but that's a different story.
