The one I put on is for the newer 95’ and up control arms. There stronger wall but smaller diameter. The old ones are a thinner wall but bigger diameter. I’m gonna straighten it up and sleeve it with angle iron like my other one is. But I kinda did jump the truck off the rock in the rear and I think that’s when it bent. I’m pretty sure it was on this rock right here bouncing up it.

It was during the first relic run that I lost a shock bushing and used some 5/8" Gates Green Stripe heater hose as a patch. Since then most of the other shock bushings have failed and the heater hose is my permanent go-to solution. Perfect fit and great durability.

And your swap time is getting down to about 10 minutes/bushing. Impressive.

Lots of random 45 wrenching over last couple days. Big shout out to rice for the assist. We rebuilt the Holley and worked the bugs outta the system literally (vacuum secondary diaphragm to be exact) but it still had a hesitation and stumble off idle. Ended up swapping the primary metering block off my spare carb for sucess. Along the way my diagnostic shotgun provided a new fuel pump, filter and marine lines. Runs great now.

Pulled the wheels and reinstalled with 3 acorns to center and then the shank style to secure and got rid of a some vibes i had picked up. Working on the DS front wheel bearings now hoping to solve the last lil bit of shimmy . Hopefully get to a brake flush as well.

Yesterday’s Oil/filter change in the camry, 45, and 80 has me wondering if they have a limit to the oil recycling like they used to enforce in high point....... only 30qts here to take in :D

Still getting a positive pressurization of the gas tank if anyone has any ideas. Only running a feed line, no return and cooler ambient temps lately so not sure about this one. Seems like it would be in vacuum.

How the hell did a stinkbug get in there

Crawled right up that bottom linkage hole i suppose. Thought that was our smoking gun as it kept the diaphagm from completely closing.

I did some wrenching this weekend with the help of my dad. My parents and sister had come down for a football game on Saturday and stayed the night so on Sunday my dad could weld my power steering box bracket on to the frame. He brought his welder down and assorted cutting implements and made it happen. I had an absolute battle cutting off the frame bracket for the torque rod and then cdrilking the 7/8” holes in the frame is a whole other story, long story short I should’ve had my dad being his good drill and not relied on mine.

Don’t look at the welds too closely! They are t the prettiest but they should hold just fine. This was the first time my dad has welded in smaller spaces at weird angles and he wasn’t very pleased with the result, but once I spray paint it it’ll go away

Its that time again. And speaking of time, not really sure why it has taken three times as long as it normally does all while having the luxuries of level ground and roof over my head complements of @fj40z garage. Gracias amigo.

it is the comfort factor. your no longer in a hurry to get it done before it rains, gets to cold or hot , or it sinks in the mud/gravel.

My Duramax is in process of getting some much needed love...that ironically started out as investigating a leak from the rear roof area which turned out to be the high mount brake light gasket had failed. While I was ‘in there’ I decided to replace...
  • Both rear tail light housings - originals were delaminating and anything but clear
  • Both headlight housings with new bulbs
  • Both park/turn/running light housings and bulbs
  • New headlight/dimmer switch (interior lights would randomly go dark at night)
  • Headlight/park housing supports
  • New alternator - original clutched version was locked up and made the most god awful rattling noise
  • New serpentine belt, plus tensioner and idler pulleys
  • All new weather stripping for front and ext cab rear doors
  • New front control arms with ball joints already installed (praise Jesus I don’t have to screw with the old ones)
  • All new front suspension bushings
  • New front and rear bilstein shocks
  • New tie rod ends, relay rod ends, pitman arm, etc
Almost all parts are OEM (took some work sourcing some bits). Might end up doing new door pins and new front grill. Then it gets a full detail...ready for another 13 years!

Not huge wrenching, but changed one of the front diff mount bushings/arm on Jolene.
I’ve been suffering from the infamous 100 series “clunk”. This one change out went a long way towards eliminating it. 2 diff mount more bushings and a tranny mount to swap out at some point.

Would you happen to have the part number for this? I’m making a list of bushings to swap out...I have a small clunk from a stop.

@SFROMAN and I did some work on his mini yesterday. Much, much longer rear springs. He has more pics.

2020 Vette drive line. Can't wait to see what people start putting this in. We'll probably start seeing swaps next year at SEMA if these can be had.

They are trail gear springs. I bought used to replace the OME springs.
I will have to look at the springs tonight to get the part number.
Had to relocate the hangers o. The frame about 4” on both front and back of the spring to keep the axle centered in the wheel well.
The new hangers are way beefier than stock and went with flex joints in the rear.
I still have to change out the shackles because but I have to order some new bolts.
Here are some quick measurements I took of the front and rear fender and my sliders. It’s tall but it’s the only way to keep the front tires out of the cab when flexing.
