After 22 years, 15 in the military and most of the rest being used as an off the grid camper in Morroco, this part had finally had it.

Going to miss taking this thing for its weekly walk, drive, on Saturday morning while I've been babysitting it.

SOR charges $50 for a bent bolt with the end hammered flat and a hole in it.

Homemade version: $1.98.

My wrenching time is now split between two vehicles.

2006 4WD SR5 with 116K miles.
I need to inspect the timing belt, recenter the steering rack, and address some minor leaks. The only upgrades I have planned are a Bilstein lift, new wheels, and shoes to complete the ride.

Next on the "I don't want to pay for one" list ... a map light for the 40. :hillbilly:

Materials ... old USB cord, your favorite LED color, and a cap from a dry erase marker.

That’s awesome, but what is this “map” you speak of? :p

I mentioned making your own PS lines in the brown 40 thread, thought I would re post this here.

I make the Power Steering pressure line in house. Auto zone can't seem to find the hose for an 87 Land Cruiser with an LS3. The line can be repaired in the field, re using ends and replacing hose. An Extra length of hose is in the center console. Odds are the owner will never need it.

The hose is high pressure line as are the AN fittings. This part threads on counter clockwise.

See the end of the hose inside the fitting, and the threads for the next piece.

This piece is threaded clockwise. Available in 90, 45 and straight.

Not cruiser related but you guys will appreciate this. Dad owns a diesel shop that I’ve taken a silent role in working for from a computer for the past few years. Now that I’m closer I’ve been stopping by for different things. There was a clutch Job/trans service and two head jobs going on. The size of everything still amazes me. It not hard to see why these things will go a million hard miles.

The transmission is out of a Kenworth. Cummins in The frame is on a International and the picture with the head on it and the cat in frame is on a Peterbilt.

The one you bent was sleeved? Jesus dude, did you jump the poor truck?
The one I put on is for the newer 95’ and up control arms. There stronger wall but smaller diameter. The old ones are a thinner wall but bigger diameter. I’m gonna straighten it up and sleeve it with angle iron like my other one is. But I kinda did jump the truck off the rock in the rear and I think that’s when it bent. I’m pretty sure it was on this rock right here bouncing up it.
