Makita cordless tool fan here:I'm a Makita man myself. Milwaukee has an awesome lineup, but I started with Makita many years ago and have just added on as funds allow. I run the 3Ah batteries and my original ones lasted for close to 5 years before I got some new ones. Just got 3 more and the 6 year old ones I have are still going good, just needed a few more. Also, thye have maintained pretty much the same battery platform all along. So my oldest tool will work with the current battery. Some of the others seem to change every few years.
I have a Makita corded version and LOVE it. I have 3 or 10 hand files (I misplace them all the time) and the electric file is so much faster and more efficient. The speed control goes from very light grinding at level 1 to OMG it's chewing everything up at level 6.
