I'm looking at cordless impacts next... Dewalt, Milwaukee?? Any other recommendations???

What I can say about the Milwaukee Fuel M18 impact ... It got a ton of use while I was doing the gig working on FedEx trucks. The tool was both strong and reliable. The batteries SUCKED. On average new batteries lasted only about 3 weeks! They were warrantied which was fine but still a hassle.

I'm a Makita man myself. Milwaukee has an awesome lineup, but I started with Makita many years ago and have just added on as funds allow. I run the 3Ah batteries and my original ones lasted for close to 5 years before I got some new ones. Just got 3 more and the 6 year old ones I have are still going good, just needed a few more. Also, thye have maintained pretty much the same battery platform all along. So my oldest tool will work with the current battery. Some of the others seem to change every few years.

Makita cordless tool fan here:
1/4" brushless impact
1/2" drill (cheap model)
Angle grinder
Hedge trimmer
Chainsaw
Mini-blower

I have 5 batteries 1.5Ah, 2 x 3.0Ah, and 2 x 5.0Ah and all the batteries are interchangable. I've yet to have a bad battery pack and I've overheated the battery packs several times in the chainsaw. The 1.5Ah battery came with the 1/2" drill and is starting to show capacity issues but it's more than 6 years old.

I have a Makita corded version and LOVE it. I have 3 or 10 hand files (I misplace them all the time) and the electric file is so much faster and more efficient. The speed control goes from very light grinding at level 1 to OMG it's chewing everything up at level 6.

You won't regret it! Make sure to buy lots of belts, they can wear out quick, esp when using just the edges.

I have absolutely loved this bad mammajamma since I got it for Christmas about 2 years ago.
