Yeah, he typically takes them apart completely, then puts them back together and tests them.

Not sure why it’s so hard to find paint pens anymore but this new Sharpie did the trick.

How about a weird tool for TTT.

3.25" octagonal socket for the spindle nuts on the ferd f-teen-thousand. This is now the largest socket I own. Bud light and a hand for scale.

My favorite new "tool" .... did a king pin job on a box truck and have been using the old king pin as a drift almost daily.

^^^ Got any extras? :grinpimp:

Wonder how hard that material is.

I have not been able to dent this thing, so all I can say is the hardness is up there. Soon as next king pin job rolls in I'll get you one.

Couldn't remember where the fabrication thread was so I'm putting this here. I used a 3lb hammer, MAPP gas, anvil on the vise, angle grinder, Hobart Mig, and some paint.

I want to attach the snow blade (September purchase) to my 16g Gravely (May purchase) with the old and busted quick release rear axle mounts (November purchase).

Heat, bang, relief cuts, angle grind, weld, grind, prime, paint. Done. Now on to the issues with the handle that adjusts the blade angle.

16g frame with a transplanted 20hp Koehler magnum. Learning curve on the engine and transmission will commence this winter. PTO is either at the end of its life or just needs an adjustment.

I've not been able to find this press kit from Tiger Tool for any less than $1770.00! o_O

I'm convinced it is possible to make one for considerably less. B7 or Grade 8 threaded rods are readily available as are HD long fine thread nuts and nut inserts.

What to use for top and lower brackets? Thoughts?

Looks pretty simple actually. Need some dimensions off it it, but shouldn't be hard to make on a mill.

Really all you need a plate on the bottom with a hole in it, and a plate on the top with a threaded hole to drive the kingpin out from. Adapters to exactly fit different vehicles are nice, but probably unnecessary.

Agree. Dimensions are fairly forgiving. Ideally this would all happen with axle on the rig and (better yet) not even removing hub from spindle. It needs to be fairly narrow to clear brake rotors but can extend fore and aft as far as you like.

The milling idea is appealing because it would yield a beautiful product. One non-pretty idea is cutting some truck leaf springs and setting them on their sides with the rods sliding down between them.
