Wow, this is a promising build.... can't wait to see each step!!

What is the purpose of the armor up over the wheels? I'm a noob to hardcore builds, but it seems like the extra weight wouldn't be as helpful as the extra protection in a long distance rig?

this is to protect from steep banks and trees when driving in tight conditions...

That makes sense, I'd want to protect the body of a nice, tricked out cruiser like that too :)

original equipment modified to work in the rear...
thanks for the compliments guys.

Wow! This is a killer build. As I sit in a hostel in Colombia I can't help but  a little.

I think the Troopie is the perfect platform for extended overland trips and the only shortcoming I ever thought of was the normally aspirated 1HZ, with a turbo and intercooler this should be awesome!!!

I am really interested in seeing the interior mods in the future. Will you be doing those Wayne?

61Mk+, are you planning on living out of the truck during your travels? For sleeping will you use a pop up, RTT or simple platform inside the vehicle? It sounds like you have done plenty of traveling and have a very precise idea of what you want. Wish I would have had that experience when I prepared our 60 for travel, I still love it, but there are quite a few things I would do differently (including some things you are doing).

Cannot wait to see the finished product,
Cheers and congratulations!

i wanted to do the interior mods since i am a cabinet maker by trade but the owner wants to do the interior and i respect that goal.

More
Is
Better
Syndrome

guys with a small pecker usual have this issue...

Therefore a LJ78 being larger than other 70 Series would fall into the "more is better syndrome" category.:)

LJs aren't cruisers. They are just another vehicle.
Get off the LJ thing you have seen the light and now have a BJ.

Really??

Why don't you come down to the coast and we will go wheeling. O yeah you don't own a Cruiser. It's alright you can bring your dads.
