I waited to see if the Benjamin Trail would go on sale during Prime Days... it didn'tI went through 14 different air rifles to find the one above. Worth EVERY PENNY and then some. Air rifles are approved for discharge in the City limits but .22 Long rifle is not. I was ”thinking about” using the Aquila sub Sonics in a Cricket single shot kids rifle. Quiet but according to “the man” it would be illegal. Having many douche bags in my neighborhood who sniff glue and profess to love all things alive, I decided on the Benjamin. Amazing accuracy out to At least 30 yards with the included scope and some practice. Cute furry warm bunnies-dead-! Obnoxious chewing squirrels-eviscerated-! I am not saying I actually “killed” anything, just making conversation.....
I decided on the Ruger. $120 with pretty good reviews, it arrives tomorrow. I got a nicer scope but will see how the included one does first and may return it. I built a little practice 'range' tonight so I can see how well it does. Some steel pellet targets at 25yds and a couple fender washers screwed to a board at 57yds. Maybe that's a bit optimistic but we'll see. I've been looking at a long range rifle so maybe this will show me whether I should dabble in the long range arena or not. For now, squirrels beware!! I added a little light so I can shoot after work after the time changes 
So I live in a pretty dense, multi cultural neighborhood. There is a good bit of noise during the day, but for the most part quiets down at night.
Across the street from me there are 2 rental houses that younger, south of the TX border, people pack into....beat up 2wd trucks and white vans everywhere, always coming and going. They do odd stuff at times.
Last night, for the first time, at 9pm, they set up a full band in the front yard.....trumpets, drums, trombone, God knows what.....and went at it full volume. I thought the darn carnival was at my front door. I've never seen such ignorant, selfish, ridiculous behavior in my life. They really do treat their spot like MX City.
The second most surprising thing is that I had to be the one go yell at them. I let them go a bit, waiting to see who would do something first.....lots of elderly and kids in the neighborhood to be bothered by that craziness, but no one did. So I yelled at them and they got quiet. Hopefully they don't try and retaliate.

@onemanarmy My job has taken me to nearly every continent on the planet, from big cities to dirt poor rural communities. I’ve learned that “assholes” is a universal concept that transcends all cultures....everybody’s got some.

I knew I could count on you
Seems like a missed opportunity, to me. You could have said hello and asked to be part of the fun - possibly enjoyed some great company, exposure to a different culture with fun music, possibly dancing and delicious slow cooked meats.
Haha. Fun? I've talked to them before, but this was extreme disrespect for alot of the neighborhood. There was also no dancing or meats. I'm all for a party, but that wasn't it. I'll tell them to set up their band in your front yard after you've gone to sleep.

my rant....... morons stopped at the roundabout... my god, just slow or speed up and merge. dont stop and wait for the Asplundh truck that is not even in the roundabout yet...

Don't even get me started on roundabouts.
Observations driving back and forth to Oriental, NC
1. Ford truck drivers rarely move from the left lane
2. It takes an incredible amount of skill and patience to move that slowly away from a stoplight
3. Many drivers are passive aggressive - look in the rear view mirror and do not do anything except to continue to talk with their passenger
4. Fast cars rarely actually go fast
5. Texting and driving is the new norm - adjust and move on
6. Squatter trucks are everywhere and I just don't get it
7. The giant diesel duramax/rams/f250s that cost a fortune and can tow a house are rarely towing anything, are dirty, and the bed is empty. They actually move quickly down the road which is good.
8. Many drivers on 70 think they are in a nascar parade, filling up each lane perfectly so there is no way to get by and when you do, they speed up and get southern butt hurt about it
9. New 4Runners and New Tacos are everywhere now
10. Waze is amazing at identifying speed traps - highly recommend
ha. at what age can you ignore/sleep through/not get irritated by a 7 piece carnival band (with a full drum set) turned up to 11 outside your window at night on a weekday?

The world is going to hell. 12 hours in FL and I’ve already seen I both a Tundra and a Tacoma with the bro stance. The Dumdra even had the loudest damned exhaust I’ve heard in years. Probably the only Toyota’s I’ve ever seen befouled like that.
Generally here drivers are better at roundabouts than they were in NC..... but that isn't saying much or that they are great here. In the UK I think most drivers here would die trying to get onto or off a 3 lane roundabout.
Not really a rant about anyone thing or anything just ranting because i'm frustrated. Today is my Nana's 100th birthday. The entire family was going to fly for Wales today for it and rent out a castle for the celebration. (strange how airbnb has grown lol) Now because of the pandemic the all of us in the US, Thailand and Australia are stuck. The majority of us that live in the UK can't even go say happy birthday to her through a window because they Wales has almost completely closed the boarder with England and the rest in the UK that live in wales aren't supposed to travel far. So only about 7 out of a family that is near 70 (most likely larger) were able to go and sing happy birthday to her through a window today. On the plus side she did get her letter from the Queen on time, and all of our gifts arrived on time.
We will just have to celebrate her 101st next year that much harder.

Wow, 100! Sarah's grandfather just hit 98 this week.
Covid is definitely ruining many things for older folks. One less obvious thing, though, is something my mother is going through right now - she doesn't want to stay in her giant house, alone, anymore, but she wants her next move to be her last (in the sense of having independent living & skilled nursing in one location, not isolation and possible death due to a covid outbreak in a senior living facility).

My mother is 93, will be 94 in Nov. She lives in a nursing home/assisted living facility in PA. She has already had Covid. Her nurse told me "You know your mother, she is too ornery to just die from some damn flu, her words about the flu..". Her place is shut down tight as a drum. Deliveries are left at the curb, period and sterilized. No visitors, period. Stay away is their philosophy. She hates talking on the phone, goes in spurts of just plain not answering. "I'm 93, I'll do what I please" Her biggest complaint is that she has out lived almost all of her friends and she can no longer play the piano like she used to.
