I hung out with Kevin at OX12 this last weekend and had a good time chatting with him and interested parties that wandered by. The final prototype that he has on the 60 is actually beautiful...it's quality. Unfortunately, he still doesn't have final word from his suppliers on a couple parts availability and pricing. So it may be some time....

Also, there has been alot of clamor for these from the 80 series guys. Most of Kevin's customers are not 60 series guys but 80's series guys, so he is trying to focus on them in the immediate future. He told me that once he has the final glitches worked out on the supply side for the window parts, he can finalize the pricing and then start selling the 60 series windows. The 80 series windows comes next, followed by the 100 series.

I didn't get a chance to chat with him about it, but I live in Eugene as well and can offer up my LX470 for the prototype work. The truck is going to be coming more and more apart over the summer and fall. I'll be in touch with Kevin more often now that we've met...I still have to get up to his shop and see all that he is working on!

Any updates on this? It would be awesome to have this when on trips where constant access is needed to rear.

This is Tech, not Seriously OT.......

Anyways, Kevin, your finished version for the 60 is awesome and the price-point is more reasonable than you might think. After spending 6 days in my truck I was left really wanting an easier way to get to the inside of the back.

Hey guys. thanks for the support.
Yeah, the 60 windows are together, you can take a look at some final prototype pics and first production unit pics starting on page 10 here:

It's so nice to FINALLY have my hardware, even with all the parts I ended up just making myself, the other bits and pieces have been a nightmare to get here.

It's good to roll into other platforms now, including the 100. I have a junk 80 here now so I've been making the templates for that. If anyone can get me a line on a junked 100, I just need the rear window frame for templating to start with.

Even if someone wants to stop by and we can remove their rear windows to get some initial hand-cut templates together we can do that.

Can anyone post the FSM for rear window removal? :p

Kevin,

The operative type (found on all 100/470 North American versions) rear wing windows on a 100 are easy to remove once you get the plastic interior trim panels out of the way ;). Then its just a matter of unbolting the two forward hinges; and either gently spreading the attachment "wings" that connect the motor to the latch side of the window, or removing the bolt/nut that holds the glass to the latch motor.

Subscribed. Love my swingouts but would really like to be able to access the back without having to swing both sides out every time. Any idea on timing for the 100 series?

This reminds me of a scene from "Blazing Saddles."

"Won't somebody please help that man!"

I am in Arkansas and would love to see Oregon but I would think we can find a Mud Junkey closer than I am.

Nobody's brought me a 100 to play with yet. :p

I believe James @ Cruiserparts has a burnt up 100 that could be a donor rear quarter section for you.

I'd send it out to media and powder coating, then do your thing.

Guys,

Here is how the DT header build went down. We need to do the same for the side flip windows. I actually think you could sell these for all kinds of suv's.

Talk to DT. Start a group buy. Send in deposits. Had a volunteer take a 100 series to the dt shop. Pay for a rental car if necessary.

We need to do the same for the side flip windows and get this moving.

Agreed. Kevin has proved to be a trustworthy and reliable source and his products speak for themselves. I wouldn't hesitate to put a deposit down. Now that the project has rested for a while, there might be some new energy.

The biggest challenge with DT deal was getting a volunteer to let go of their 100 for two weeks while DT did test fitting.

Hey Kevin, Petr (from Eugene) here. We met a couple of times with my LX at your place.

Hey, I just acquired a second LX so I am willing to let you have one of them for a couple of months to do all the templating and test fitting you want to do. I will be tearing out the interior on my original one, so that would probably be the perfect time.

Let me know what your timeframe is and let's make this happen!
