Top Hinged Side Cargo Windows??

I emailed Emu Wing about the installation instructions for their window replacements. They promptly sent this response:

"Please find the fitting instructions attached, we are working to get these onto the website now. The most difficult part I have found is removing the interior trim, especially if you have drawers fitted. The kit has been designed to be as simple as possible for home DIY fitting. One tip that I do have is to make sure you have some Blue Tac in your socket when you remove the front upper window bolt - do not drop it..lol - or it is gone inside the car rattling to eternally remind you of its presence.

We have also found the car windscreen fitters to be more than helpful if anyone is lacking in confidence or skills to fit the kit themselves."

I have attached the .pdf to this post for anyone to review.

@reznunt As promised, here is a diagram from the Body Electrical, Antenna section of the FSM showing the antenna locations.

@reznunt it looks like we were talking about two different things so we were both corrrect :grinpimp: sorry if I came across as harsh or an ass

What year is yours? Is that locator part of the GPS system that I don't have?

@DoublePump @uzj100 @EarthX were you all still wanting to get in on the group buy? If you haven't seen it yet it's here: 100 Series Emu Wing top hinged side cargo windows. Open until 3/18/16.

@varythings I may have been wrong with my answer to you about the antenna on your rear passenger glass. If you're talking about the electrical circuit that is painted onto the glass, that is the second AM/FM antenna. If you are talking about an antenna module that passes through the glass just like pictured to the right of @reznunt post above then it is a locator antenna.

I am emailing Emu Wing to ask them if they have information about swapping this antenna over to the new vertical opening windows.

I'm talking my CFO :princess: into this purchase with a promise of resale value of the removed glass. Hope I'm right!
I had 2 self recovery situations recently where I didn't have clearance to open the rear swing outs, and of course I forgot to grab my gear before hand. I've got the ARB cargo barrier, if I can't get the rear open I can't get to the back. Looking forward to this for sure.

Thanks @ihadmail. I'm talking about the AM/FM integrated in the glass. I'm not concerned with swapping it over, I'm probably opting for the Al not the glass EmuWing, it won't work with an integrated antenna.

Yes, I am in.

@ihadmail is the photo gallery on EmuWing's website black satin?
And, If we order powder coat will there be the logo decal applied, if so can we opt out of the decal?

Thanks for organizing this group buy.

You are welcome, I enjoy helping others out and getting a discount myself.

The answer from Emu Wing:

"In the photos the panels are Gloss Black, but we since switched our standard colour to Satin Black - we have found it doesn't mark as easily.

The GQ and GU are both shown on the website in our standard Satin Black."

And here are the photos of the GQ/GU showing the satin black:

Awesome, thanks.

@ihadmail I'm still very interested in one of these but still can't commit 100%! Trying to save my beans while keeping priorities in order. What's the cut off date for the order?
I know if there's a good time to get in it is now when there are lots of other guys interested as well! Another big discount group buy will be harder to come by.
Will these be shipped to you then out or would it be from Australia straight to final destination? Do you have any more details on shipping rate?
Thanks

@Get outside I have set the cutoff date to 3/18 but I could probably be talked into extending that if it means getting the discount vs not having enough orders to get it.

When we have a final count I will determine if it's cheaper to have a pallet of them shipped to me then redistributed vs having Emu Wing drop ship them.

I do not have a better estimate than $150 each pair shipped. If you want to PM me your address, whether you would want a pair or single and whether you would want glass vs aluminum I would be happy to get a quote from Emu Wing.

Thanks, if I can swing it it will be LH (driver) on aluminum black satin. My zip is 93444 in Nipomo CA. Maybe they will ship them all to Ouray to be picked up at HIHs, ha!
Thanks again.

BTW, do you know or did you ask how thick the aluminum panel is?

I have sent an email asking about shipping cost to you and about the thickness of the panel. I should have a response in the morning.

No offense taken... I usually can't really decipher people's context or tone in forum posts anyway =).

I have a 1998, and I'm guessing the vehicle locator was a dealer option of an aftermarket system.
