Tie rod ball joint replacement

'71 FJ40: What is the secret to removing the tie rod...cannot get the old ball joint threaded bolts out of the sleeve or even rotate the tie rod? I want to replace the 5 ball joints...thanks

I used a couple of pipe wrenches. Use lots of WD-40 in advance and don't forget to loosen the sleeve tightener. This after I used the pickle fork to get the tapered shafts out of their eye holes.

Don't know if this is the proper way, but it worked out OK.

You can order new TRE's from toyota and they will come with a new rod.
