So the 250 is light duty like a Prado? Probably heavy duty enough for the "overland" market... I'm sure a lot of car campers (Overlanders) don't wheel their rigs or put them on trails that really push the rigs hard.
They also say it’s 4 inches narrower than the 200, and with the fender flares that stick out of an already protruding fender/body I can’t imagine how tight the inside must feel.
This is not a real LC! Is this going to be called an LC in the countries that sell the 300 along side, No! This was simply made to appease the US emission requirements and help all the GX/4R fanboys finally be able to afford an LC. Toyota doesn’t care they have completely discredited the LC name just like they slap TRD on everything.
I’m sure everyone will be clamoring over this sticker. It’s funny, up until now I don’t ever remember hearing anyone pleading for Toyota to bring the Prado to US.
All I see is a SUV designed to up sell people from a 4Runner but at the same time not compete with Lexus like the 200 did. It's not bad looking just can not see it as anything else.
Landcruiser 2021 90k. 2025 lc 250 55k. 25 year vehicle gone. Class gone. Stealth wealth gone. Nameplate money grab. Guess U.S. market deserves it... should have bought more than 3500 units a year.
My wife thought it was too narrow (4" is what I am seeing on autoblog??)
Hatch rear door with glass hatch panel (?)
Hybrid only it looks like w/4cyl from tacoma (and 10spd)
I like the round headlights version. No idea why 2 headlight versions though - makes little sense for the US anyway.
<Edit> looks like only the Round headlights in the USA.. not 100% sure though but seems that way.
Rear locker !
Cloth seats (I like that)
Medium sized( in US any way) towing capacity, basically a little better than the current J150
hopefully better payload than the J150 @ 705kg ~1554lbs
front interior looks nice.
Sunroof not standard in the 1958 trim.
Mid $50k starting price. Competes with Bronco/Wrangler/etc.
Only 2 Row (no 3rd row)
I like it, replace the 200 series... no I think not.
I think they had to do something like this, since the LC numbers for years were never sustainable
I wish there was a Non-Hybrid option but its Toyota so if someone can do it, its them.
-It's narrower, so a plus for some trails and better around city
-not as expensive as land cruiser more people can afford
-many dumped ford broncos to get this?
-100 plus accessories, will this be modifiable like jeep? or manufacturer's off roading accessories.
-replacement for land cruiser 200? no, but an alternative.
-Prado is a prado and in other parts of the world prado is still a kick ass car if you don't want to buy a $90k SUV
Where's all the folks that said they wanted a bare-bones, basic version of a Land Cruiser? Seems like this would appeal to them because of the cloth seats, simple body design, no third row, rear locker, etc...
I like almost everything about it. Smaller, cheaper, blocky and not over styled (as opposed to 4Runner). 6k towing rules it out as a replacement for my lx but would be a much better daily.

I don't think it's a replacement for my 200, but I do like it, and I think it definitely will have broader appeal. I do think it will end up cannibalizing T4R sales, but in reality the 200 was a bit of an odd vehicle. I appreciate the 'overbuilt' aspect of it, but realistically, the 3rd row wasn't particularly useful unless you were a child, and using it left no storage space...now if you need that room you can be directed towards a Sequoia. If you yank the 3rd row in your 200 series then you have a very large 5 seater, and as much as I love the confidence of the vehicle, it is generally just overkill for most people (gas mileage etc).
I think the appeal of the 250 will be high capability, more maneuverable off-road (departure angle looks like a dream compared to 200) and a more reasonable price point.
Good overview of the base trim and off-road perspective, kind of impressed to see base options (rear locker, safety features, modern tech etc). Appears to be easily mod-able.
Depending on where and how it's eventually revealed to be made we're probably in on a roundy white roof- to add not replace. My wife watched the global and the US reveals of her own accord... I've never been a fan of the Prado or 4runner but this may be a start given our choices.
