Where's all the folks that said they wanted a bare-bones, basic version of a Land Cruiser? Seems like this would appeal to them because of the cloth seats, simple body design, no third row, rear locker, etc...
If I buy on for me - it would be the cloth seats, non-sunroof, stripper model with the sway bar disconnect, and locker (iff possible no idea of course) - that would be a perfect trail truck with 1600lbs of payload

I guess when people say they want a bare-bones Lc they mean something like a 200 with the same motor (or maybe. 4.7) with cloth seats, steelies, vinyl carpet for a significant lower price. This new thing just seems gimmick in my opinion. It looks just like a cheap SUV but I bet it still cost as much as the GX version

I'll wait to see it in person - but my first thought...... YESSSSS!!!!!! Finally a color close to my original 78 - "Baby Poo" but in the 21st Century!!!!!

My boys will love that - They keep wanting me to paint my 40 a "cool" color. I'm buying that for sure!

For an idea of size, pretty close to overall 200 dimensions, a little smaller in some

Land Cruiser 200 Dimensions:
Length 194.90 in; Width 78.00 in; Height 74.00 in; Wheelbase 112.20 in

Land Cruiser 250 Dimensions:
Length 193.90 in; Width 77.95 in; Height 73.62 in; Wheelbase 112.20 in

Some other comparisons:

I think regarding price I'd be willing to bet Toyota has this more dialed than they ever have before. If you look at other cars in their lineup Toyota gives incremental trim steps from base through Lexus equivalents at reasonable increments. I bet it will be the same from T4R through LC through GX to LX

I think the gotcha (and maybe a good thing) is for width. Numbers are minimal, but if you look at pictures, 250 is definitely narrower, and width is in fenders...this may help in tighter trails and avoiding pinstripping though. What does look good is new departure angles.

I think Toyota left themselves a massive opportunity to come out with an LX600 Overtrail trim or off-road package across different LX600 trim levels. Take the basics of the GX550 Overtrail and address some of the shortcomings of the 300 series LX, and charge what they want. I think to some degree it’s a price insensitive market for the Land Cruiser, and pushing it further upmarket to the enthusiast crowd will only help then profit margin. I still don’t see it being a direct 200 replacement, but rather a successor in spirit. After seeing the GX550 and the 250, there’s definitely a really nice opportunity there.

Or just finally bring the new 70 stateside if the updated engine will meet emissions requirements?

Either I'm getting old and cynical, or Toyota has started putting out trash.

I thought the new GX was a hideous monstrosity, but dear god, Toyota managed to make it worse with whatever this is.

Also, get off my lawn.

The LX600 will come out with an over trail trim level next year or the following one. I remember hearing about this in a commentary during the GX reveal.

and if it does
it will be triple locked without a doubt

so far only 300/310 offer a front locker option
No 250 series LC/GX has offered the option.

I think the appeal of the 250 will be high capability, more maneuverable off-road (departure angle looks like a dream compared to 200) and a more reasonable price point.
The 2024 Land Cruiser has up to 8.7 inches of ground clearance, 0.2 inches less than the previous Land Cruiser and 0.9 inches less than the 4Runner TRD Pro.

It will also offer 31-degree approach, 25-degree break over and 22-degree departure angles. The previous model was 32 degrees, 21 degrees and 24 degrees respectively.

I think for me the jury is still out. I feel like we got an upgraded 70 series...which is a good thing. I can remember wanting a 70 series for a long time to go with my luxurious 200 series. Something cheaper that i could heavily modify and bang up a bit. This might be that. Also, following Toyota's evolutionary roadmap, i feel like im comparing apples to oranges and only the name is throwing me off. A light duty ute with a station wagon.

I'll have to see it next to my 200 and see how I feel. Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't we have Land Cruiser 60 series station wagons and 40 series being sold simultaneously back in the day. Both carried the LC name. I'm sure when the station wagon came out, people said it didn't deserve the LC name.

Toyota sees the market here. They have a sequioa. It makes sense they'd bring back the utility side of LC. Something that got me into this rabbit hole in the first place. 😀

An upgraded 70 Series? Unfortunately no, they showed us one, which was great, glad to see they continue that line!

We got an upgraded 4Runner with a Land Cruiser badge, it will drive and feel just like a buzzy 4 Runner/Tacoma, gone is the heavy quality feel of the past 3 generations of Land Cruisers!

So does the 4runner go away and the LC250 replace it? Toyota video states 5 seats only and it has the rear taller deck interior like a 4runner.

Really jealous of the carplay, USB C charge ports, and the 2400W inverter....... My only frustrations with the current LC 200.

Maybe they wil ltry to fit 4Runner between this and GX550 by putting the 2.7 engine in it.

so LC300 actually has better ground clearance + off road angles than the 250 + an option front locker which you can't get on the 250.

250 specs

I’m glad to see something other than a twin turbo V6. Don’t know if I’m sold on the hybrid system, but that torque number sounds nice.

I’m gonna reserve judgement until we hear details on what’s underneath. An 8.2” ring gear with 4R/Tacoma sized hardware? Snore. A slightly smaller, lighter vehicle with 200-grade beefiness? Might have my attention.
