Thinking of selling....

The neighbors are unhappy (I live in a condo) about my 40 sitting outdoors behind the garage. My wife's car gets the garage. So, as much as I hate to, been thinking that it may be time to let her go. She's a 3/1980, originally from Florida, via West- by- God Virginia. The good: mini PS, new Toyota gas tank, new rear crossmember courtesy Cruiser Solutions, new Toy front bib, freshly rebuilt 2F engine w/emissions installed (runs great), a/c (not installed, old dealer install, came in it new, I think), no rear heater, frame excellent, tires good (rims are steelies), new windshield, new rear drum (CCOT) brakes, new stock muffler, good front fenders (one slightly dented, no rust), new front bumper, decent hood, almost new jack, tools w/case. Truck runs great, stops. The bad: It's ugly, standard rust, but not as bad as most, good hardtop with PO installed twin spotlights removed, doors OK, but not great but glass good, with all trim panels, amby doors fair to poor, but glass good, side panels OK, one w/o window, both corner widows intact. Asking $3900. If there's any interest, I can post some pics. :crybaby:Ned

Tell your neighbors to go **** themselves.

Do you really want to sell it? If you do, go for it. If not, tell your neighbors to get a life.

If my neighbors pressured me to sell anything, I'd show up with a sh!tbox LTD suitable for demolition derby action, or an ex-cop car, or an old Volvo 245...

Agreed 100%

tell your neighbors to suck a dick and get over it...... it's a Land Cruiser:flipoff2:

your neigbors can have all the opinions they want. What rules and what matters is the LAW. Is your cruiser up to code, registered and street legal? It does not matter what it looks like, as long as you are within the city laws, well then they can say or do nothing.

My neighbors wife and dog are ugly, but there is nothing I can do or say about them walking down the street.

x2 on that. As long as its up to code, then there is nothing that the neighbors can do.

I think that I found my first MUD quote for my sig :bounce:

Registered, not inspected (too many holes in the body) not enough time or energy for all of the projects. Neighbors are actually very nice, but I'm getting some lonnnnggg looks. Know what I mean? Ned

Long looks that tells me that they are jealous of your sweet LC. Keep your toy and they will get over it. If not to H*ll with them.

screw your neighbors, who cares what they say.

keep it if you want it. sell it if you want to.

Trade places with the wife's ride or move. Man cannot have too big of a garage.

Ned, Noah's right. Check the local laws. In some jurisdictions, it's OK of you cover your rig up and leave it parked where it is. The regulations vary from city to city so check into your's. My roommate is pressuring me to sell my FJ40. I'm telling him nicely to get a life and enjoy his Geo Metro (yuuuuuck) 'cause I'm keepin' my FJ40.

No way in Hell should you sell something you like due to some Bert Budinski neighbor. I have the same problem with a old guy 3 doors down. He hates my cars and calls Code compliance all the time. I just gave him the psycho/I'm gonna kill you look and the other neighbors know it and have sided with me. Go a little nut-so on the guy and maybe he'll get off your case.

Or, instead of a kneejerk declaration of war!, you could go talk nice to them. Explain the addiction, give some history, point out the high steel to plastic ratio, the low LC to Heep ratio, the hell for stout aspect. Share the passion, maybe they'll get the point.

Doesn't sound like the neighbors are the real reason. Sounds like you just don't have time for it but can't bring yourself to sell it without having more of a reason than that, hence the neighbor excuse. Not that this is being done on purpose, but sometimes we generate excuses to help make decisions so we feel better about the decision.
