Since my 1” Body Lift, I have always felt my shifter was a tad too low (just personal opinion). Wanted to raise the shifter up a few inches so it felt more accessible.

Looked into having a custom extension machined, however I came across a good solution that was dirt cheap. Found these Toyota extensions on EBay for under $5 bucks delivered. Works great. Mine is 3.5” Tall. Would prefer about 2.5-3”, but for 5 bucks I am not complaining here.

I replace the damn key shell every 3 years or so it's such a design flaw. I've wanted to find someone to create a custom billet version but have never looked into it.

Today’s project was updating all (4) O2 Sensors, MAF Sensor, and air filter.

Went with Denso O2 sensors, Toyota OEM MAF Sensor, and Toyota OEM Air Filter.

My 99 has always had a Toyota OEM Air Filter since it was new. Last year I picked up a K&N Air Filter. The more I read about K&N the less I like them. Went back with the old trusty Toyota OEM dry air filter and will continue to run these from here on out.

Nothing was wrong with MAF or O2 sensors, but they are 20 years old. Wanted to not worry about these for many years ahead. Will keep my old parts for back up.

Nothing. I just don’t like cleaning them. Easier to just use OEM and toss them when dirty.

Some say oil filters can clog MAF sensors over time. Not sure about this, but with dry filters it is not even an issue.

I installed an AFE Dry Air Filter. Might want to check them out. Seems to provide some extra air flow.

Today I replaced all 8 original OEM coil packs with new Denso coil packs. Decided to replaced my fuel pressure regulator as well with this project. Used a Toyota OEM part. Several have replaced these regulators on this site suggesting it will contribute to improving gas milage. @Supressemon reports improved gas milage by filling oil so dipstick never goes beyond 1/2 way just short of the the full line mark. I am going to try this, so removed about 1/2 quart of oil today. Dipstick now shows 1/2 way before full mark on dipstick. Before I always filled oil to full line on dipstick. Will drive it and see...

Last week I changed all (4) O2 sensors with Denso, installed a new OEM MAF sensor, and a new OEM Toyota Air Filter. Throttle body was clean since this was recently done. Changed fuel filter and PCV Valve with OEM in the last 5k miles. New OEM plugs were installed 20k miles ago. I always run supreme top tier gas, BG44K fuel treatment at each oil change, Toyota OEM filters, and Mobil 1 Synthetic.

Anxious to see if my milage improves with these changes.

Also added a little jewelry today. A new TEQ Badge.

Completed my front passenger door refresh (did driver door earlier in this build thread).

Re-dyed the dark oak leather and vinyl at top of door panel that had faded over the years. Fixed a few nicks in the vinyl and reglued some vinyl edges that had come loose around the lip of the storage bin on the door.

I have a nick in my speaker grill cloth. Looking now to pick up a used one in good condition or will be recovering all 4 grill covers in the future.

Next plan for front passenger door is updating door actuator with new one from Aisin (already purchased), clean and lube window tracks, Dynomat door, and new speakers with crossover.

New Aisin door lock actuator installed today for passenger front door.

Put new Aisin door lock actuator in driver door last month. Plan on replacing actuators for all doors soon.

Also replaced all courtesy door lamp switches with new OEM today.

New Infinity speakers installed in passenger door, Noico Butyl Sound Deadening Mat, cleaned/lubed window tracks, new Aisin door lock actuator, and door panel re-dye.

Quite noticeable with only doing 2 doors so far. Going to do rear doors next. Hopefully floor and roof one day.

Love my 99, but one thing that always has bugged me is the lousy range I get with my remote door lock. I get maybe 5-10 feet range with fresh batteries. Very frustrating.

FWIW, I also got horrible range, even with brand new batteries, in the factory remote. It finally cracked on me and I rebuilt it with that titanium case purchased from one of the members here. I now get 80+ feet. So for others looking to get some range but perhaps a little less work, this might be an option. I didn't change anything on the Cruiser itself.

Start up and throttle response improved some with new coil packs.

Was getting an average of 10mpg highway. Averaging around 11.5-12mpg now. I did the O2 sensors, fuel pressure regulator, and coil packs the same weekend.
