Hold pattern. I wrapped the damaged one around a socket and gently straightened it with the hammer and it's cleaned up pretty nicely. Still interested if someone has a lead on a spare set of intake collars for the 65 FST FJ40 I hope to fire up next!

False alarm! The one I cleaned up and straightened is working well. Thanks for being willing!!

New OEM intake/exhaust manifold gasket installed. It is running soooooooo much smoother now. I just did a quick test fire and didn't let even warm ul. Next up exhaust. I want to try and remove the head pipe at the bottom of the manifold before I drop it off for new exhaust.

It's running much better with the sealed up intake/exhaust manifold gasket. I was able to drive it down to my exhaust guys this afternoon. Cant wait to see how it runs/sounds after they do some magic. It has had bad exhaust since I purchased it. :D

Is English a second language for you Kurt?

The old intake/exhaust manifold gasket. Documenting before I round file it. I prefer the 3 piece design for smoother install & function.

Drove this to work today :D

Adjusted the brakes, mounted new tires as the old KM2's were completely dry rotted. One of the 33's had come apart and it's been rocking a 31" spare. I also mounted the spare tire rack/assembly after all these years. The bed is empty for the first time in 5+ years. It's driving really well. With the new full exhaust it fires up on the first twist of the key, I credit that to Mark's carb work.

Next up is window regulators, leaf spring bushings and the headache rack? I have an @Awl_TEQ rack to assemble or I'll keep searching for a used one and hang on to the Awl_TEQ rack and tailgates for future projects.

Tonight I did two things I told myself I would not do. Correct the bezel and start putting new weatherstipping on. The bezel was simply a fear the bolts would break/strip and I didn't want to engage that project until I had my torch set on cue and 2-3 hours to heat, drill & tap as needed. I started backing out the bolts and amazingly they all came out unscathed. I flipped the bezel and reinstalled with the 4 OE spacers and OE stainless screws. The weatherstripping was also a bandwidth concern but more so I didnt want to invest in W/S until I was ready to paint & restore. However the rattling doors and gap riddled glass were getting to be too much. I knocked out the drivers side door runs and inner/outer felts/scrubber along with a new window regulator.

I also installed a new floor dimmer switch. The old switch was super janky. It's the wrong application and only held in place with one bolt. We have an aftermarket unit we've been selling at the shop for years and it was high time my own 45 had a proper switch held in with two bolts :D

The Mrs and I took it for a late night burn. She was pleasantly surprised how much quieter (exhaust) and better it is now running.

So, when are you installing the bike rack and relinquishing the keys? :flipoff2:

It's been a few years since I've updated anything here. The beast fires right up and still gets used as a yard truck, runs to the hardware store for bark, scrap metal runs, etc. Sometime late last year I went to move it and found the brake master had leaked all its fluid. I continued moving it around in 4L with the park brake :D. I had a wild hair (and more importantly a few spare minutes) to toss a rebuild kit in the aftermarket cylinder tonight. I really  should just toss a new or rebuilt OEM cylinder in it BUT the rebuild is quick & easy and lasts a bunch of years. I'm letting it gravity bleed currently.

i have an OE carb. big window. rebuilt by Mudrak. i ran it for 500 miles max, and then pulled the engine for a diesel swap. it came out of my FJ45 lwb. too bad you are not closer, i have a brand new exhaust system with less miles on it.

maybe we can work a trade. you have something i want..........

When you say brand new exhaust system? does that mean from the exhaust manifold back? Does that mean your down pipe would be on the outside of the frame with the muffler on the outside of the frame as well? If so would it work on an LV?

That post was 16 years ago fwiw. But as Cruiser hoarders, you never know he may still have it :D
