I’m glad I’m not the only one ADD about chasing rattled and squeaks. Had my trooper of a wife sit in the back to help figure one out... whatever it takes!!

I chase them in my 40s too! The rear lift gate on my 60 has truly defeated me though.

I pulled the rear seats out today as the first step to chase the squeak that’s making me crazy. While they are out I plan to do the side panels in Noico.

Squeak still there.

I pulled the door in with a ratchet strap and sure enough, it’s the barn door.

I flipped this guy 180* and it took most of it out. A nice fat new weatherstrip would be nice too.

Beno says I need to adjust the hinges but to be honest I don’t want to break the paint on them.......

80 barn doors are famous for squeaking... how are the condition of the rubber mounts and spacers on the back? Being a middle east rig these are probably deformed to oblivion. You MAY need a new lock assembly but I would replace the rubbers first.

This is the most gently used Middle East rig ever but a good refresh on the rubber would surely tighten it all up. @Onur is checking on that stuff for me.

I’m going to try to get the side panels off tomorrow and line the body with sound deadening tomorrow.

The trailer will get baked tomorrow. Hope to have it in the shop for the weekend to reassembled

I thought I was OCD - you do things right. I hope this truck is changing your opinions on the 80 because this one is becoming something special.

As my new friend Brad Johnson put it this weekend......

“It’s barely an 80, you are OK to like it”

And yeah, everything I dislike about the FZJ80 is absent with this one....

More cool parts headed this way for it.

Ordered up all the rear door parts from Partsouq. Thanks for the help with that.

Rear jump seats back in but not before a good load of noico

These are the step supports on the inside of the D pillar

Looks super clean!!

What do you think of the Noico compared to other brands?

Ive only used Noico. Can’t imagine there is a whole lot of difference other than price.

Dobinsons Suspension
Shock fade no more thanks to @Jason Harris at Ozark overland outfitters.
These Dobinsons IMS are pure beef. I’m usually an auto generate for Foam Cell Pros but Jason told me this is the way to go.

These things dwarf the Bilstiens. 9# versus 3#

Notice the non-generic washers that lock together perfect for the eyes on the 80 series.

Rubber bushings are also the best.

The worst road in my area is actually a paved road that is completely hammered with potholes and wash out with whole sections reverted back to gravel. I made two quick passes down it for a total of about 8 miles of heavy chop and the shocks heated up to about 85*. That’s a great sign. The ride feels great. Zero body roll.

Then we went and got pizza.

When I got back. This bling had arrived ..... total and complete overkill but hey, only the best for the OddBall80....plus Jason would have said I was a wimp for backing down at that point

this thing is pimp. Total overkill but why the hell not?

12 way adjustable. Same resistance both ways.

The OddBall fought it though.
