Did this on a customer's 120mill first layer has the aluminum shiny stuff next another 120mill plus 220 mill closed cell foam then jeut insulation then new carpet

Fire wall was modified factory matting wouldn't work afterwards so couple coats of lizard skin ceramic coating then the matting with the closed cell foam over it entire engine bay was done with the lizard skin also

Fwiw, 100% coverage for vibe/resonance damping is definitely unnecessary and just wastes material/money.
That being said, I installed ~70lbs of Amazon Basics in my 80 and the difference was impressive.

I followed the 25% coverage rule, but I never did do the ceiling. I'm sure that'd cut down on the noise even more.
