10 days away made the heart grow fonder again.

@FJ60Cam let me know via secret signal that the popped out 3FE head was almost out of the lab so I dragged the Oddball 80 back into the shop and started cleaning up the head and the engine bay to get ready to stuff this back in

I think 1/2 the HG was still on the block. I tried to keep the holes plugged as I went. I think most of it hit the floor.

A little Zepp Orange and some elbow grease got the paint looking good as well.

Beno box of goodies shipped Saturday and my freshly cleaned injectors ship back today from WitchHunter

We might be making noise again soon here

I thought you just dropped a factory hanger and pump in the fuel tank, but based on that contraption by the passenger firewall area I guess not?

This truck’s everything is based on a carbureted 3F. All the lines and hoses are low pressure.

At the time I got this thing rolling, I was not planning on dropping the fuel tank and redoing all the lines. I simply added a manual fuel pump and am using the PowerSurge to put the pressure to the EFI. The only EFI rated hoses needed are from the Powersurge to the fuel rail now.

I’ve had great luck with this setup on my Sniper EFI equipped 2Fs.

I’m glad I decided to clean all this stuff up before I got the head and then got in too much of a hurry to clean all this stuff up.

He blasted and powdered the heat shields and I’m putting header paint over that hoping for good results. If not I’ll toss em

Not sure Id bother trying to paint powder. You're trying to guild the lily on that. Powder doesn't usually like paint much in the first place.

Yeah it will likely melt off but it’s always OK to paint over powder if you scuff it up a bit. I did not see sending this stuff off for heat level treat.

Love the pic. The parts of new boxes and the cruiser off in the distance with the hood up. Pretty much the perfect distillation of this hobby.

Injectors came back from Witch Hunter. They were fine before but perfect now.

They give you a little before and after printout

Hidden Winch Installation

since I may have some shop time before the head is ready I’m going to try to install this M8000 on a universal Harbor Freight plate.

Gotta quit here but the plate needs to be cut along these lines. I’ll break out the plasma Sunday and clean it up with a flap disc

I busted out the Wuhon plasma and made quick work of the cuts. Flap disked them mostly nice.

Test fit the plate to see how far forward and back to go with the M8000. Lifted the bumper on and off a few times to make sure.

The grill support has to be notched

Reuse the hooks. I had some M12 that were a bit longer for the hooks. (Edit...these hooks go on the middle and rear bolts, not front and middle)

Winch mounted. Tomorrow I have to notch the bottom of the bumper to clear the front two winch bolts and cut the hole for the fairlead.

This little console cooler came in yesterday. $80 on Amazon. I’ve gotten spoiled having an arm rest and a console. Even if the fridge is crap (not sure yet) it is the perfect size for the spot and I can fill it full of console goodies.

Got the winch done.

This is a pain in the ass but a good option if you don’t want to clutter up the front of your 80.

I’m sure after all this work I’ll hit a deer this winter.

So I had to modify the bumper in just a few places.

As I said yesterday I had to egg it out for the front winch plate bolts and then I realized I had the recovery hooks in the front two frame bolts where I needed them in the back two.

Then I had to pull the front two bolts. Mount the bumper then I had to egg out the bumper to get the front two winch plate/frame bolts in the frame.

The carbide bit on my air tool is the ticket to cutting with this on the truck.

I used a jig saw and drill to get the fairlead in.

Looking down on the free spool lever. Obviously you have to pop the hood.

The solenoid is temporarily strapped to the bumper support. I’m going to buy some longer cables and put it in the engine bay or just hardwire a switch into the cab.

Looks great. Nice and clean. Happy.

That's an interesting little item. Does this rig have a center console like US spec 3FE 80s, and will this fridge replace that?

It’s a 3 tiny person bench seat. Notice the lap belt holding it into place.

No console. No cup holders :D
