Plinked some paper with a few handguns today. This is a Kahr P380 on the head and my new M1911 (1917 frame & 1943 slide) on the body. 21 foot distance. The lessons learned: 1-my bifocals suck to shoot with, 2-I loved shooting a 102 year old pistol that might possibly have been used in 3 wars and 1 conflict.

Still in the market for a decent O/U. Prefer 20ga but, would consider 12.

Heather and I went to thee Palmetto State Armory in Greenville, SC yesterday for the first time. What a great place! Certainly worth the trip. They have a selection beyond compare with any other stores in the area including Cabelas which is almost right across the street. Pricing is very good as well, we purchased a Henry rifle and some ammunition.

They have 18 lanes at their range and most of the weapons they sell can be fired before purchase. The employees we encountered were all very knowledgeable and helpful. We are already planning a trip back, Heather is in the market for a trap gun.

We've been talking about it for a while and finally purchased a trap thrower as well yesterday and I ordered a wobble attachment for it last night. Heather even found clays that are bio degradable and are mostly constructed of lime. Cant think of a better way to lime the paddocks :)

We plan to invite club members to come and shoot on occasion if there is any interest. Let me know if you'd be interested. SAFETY is paramount so don't plan on drinking or smoking if you are shooting.

I was 46 years old when I joined the Buncomb County Wildlife Association, a trap and 5 stand club near Asheville. My landlord had taken me out to another club not long before where I tried trap shooting for the first time, using his Uncle's Browning under and over. I shot a 19 my first round and never shot anything less from that point on. I was lucky, many there told me I had what it takes to shoot competition and do well.

So I joined BCWA that was just a few miles from where I lived at the time. I bought myself a brand new Remington 1100 Competition, a gas gun. Well, many of the old farts there turned their noses up at my gas gun and many more openly gave me shiz about it. Well, if you know me you would expect I would not take said shiz for long.

One Sunday a particularly mouthy home builder from Asheville was ragging me pretty hard about my gas gun while showing off his $15K Perrazzi trap gun. So, in front of the clubhouse, lined up with a couple dozen "shooters", shooting more BS than clays, I challenged him. I challenged him to one round, his choice and I would spot him 2 clays. Winner takes the other's gun as the prize, looser shuts the hell up.

He did not step up. So I told him fine, you win, you get my gun, I win you give me a grand and shut the hell up anyway. Still he did not step up. Things were a lot different from that point on. Perhaps the fact that I had just shot 3 rounds with a score of 75 threw his 17-18 average in a dimmer light. The best part was all his cronies busting his chops non stop for weeks to come.

Heather found this article last night that sums it up rather well. It truley is an old boys club, only now I am an old boy and still shoot a gas gun.

Anyone interested in a good USPSA "starter pack"?

Tanfoglio Limited Custom (9mm), 5 X mags w/Taylor Freelance extensions, Redhill Tactical holster.

I hate money, so I've been shooting more 3-gun and maintaining my FJ60. Just haven't had time for USPSA.

I bought the wrong ammunition by mistake.
My loss is your gain

Winchester 357 SIG 125 Grain full metal jacket 50 rounds $32.99 box at Academy
Two boxes for $32.00

New in box :)

If anyone has a line on a Smith and Wesson Model 28-2 Highway Patrolman, I am in the hunt for one. It is my retirement gift to myself. Thank you in advance.

I'm always looking for Marlin lever action rifles - especially 39, 444, and 1894 models.

I am a fan as well R.K. I have a 444, can shoot it about twice before it starts to rip off my shoulder. Lever guns are our favorites around here.

I haven’t seriously shot competition since I was 14. So I can adjust my distance and make my target look better than the guy next to me... lol

Franklin Binary trigger is a hoot. Enjoyed the heck out of it in .223 after I put in the heavier buffer spring.

I've accumulated enough guns over the past few years that individual locked boxes in the closet was becoming difficult to manage. Found a small used safe and am hoping to outgrow it soon. I don't have ANY space in the house so it's relegated to the garage for now. Was really worried about it but after a lot of research, I think I have a good plan... I have a golden rod going and some desiccant but Amazon's delivering a dehumidifier later this week. Wiped everything down and have been monitoring it closely; looks like everything's good. I have a Bluetooth humidity gauge on order as well so that will definitely be some peace of mind once in place.

Because the internet is for pics:

Now if I could just find some 9mm!!

In unregulated areas (heat/cold) I have left a razor blade on the top shelf inside the safe. The cheap steel rusts in open air. Think of it as an early detection system that your primary and back up dehumidifiers are not working well enough.
