Go Dark Side

. Your 40 is far from pure. Purists only cringe when someone hacks a good Cruiser (hmmmm, didn't mine used to be nice when I first did a frame off?).
You can rebuild your 2F yourself - I did mine after blowing a hole in the top of number 4 and then driving it home from Melbourne to Singer Island blowing smoke the whole way - I was pissed.
I got the 2F from Jim for $75 and ran it till it blew.
Did the rebuild myself for $1,100 in parts and machine work, but that included a new header, did not include a new cam - big mistake - so figure $1,500 for the "right" parts.
Ran a non-USA dizzy and Jim C. carb for years - it sucked!
Fuel Injection - Paid $850 for a used Chevy Astro setup using all the Downey conversion pieces - top notch stuff. Included a DUI dizzy with plug wires. This was easy as it had already been installed and running (except remembering to remove the brown connector to set base timing - same as pulling vacumm line on a non-USA dizzy).
All that being said - it's probably a lot cheaper than a V8, it's beyond reliable, and chugs down between 4 and 600 when krawling.
However, - I want to lose weight and the chevy would accomplish that.
Depends on how much time and money you have to do either.
