I haven’t seen much info about the LX so I thought I would add my experience. I installed one in my 09 LX. I have no rear entertainment but it likely wouldn’t work off other peoples feedback.

Cameras(Front, left, rear) don’t work but I don’t even see a hookup for the connectors. I bought the 360 camera kit to try that out. My existing camera quality wasn’t great anyway and I hope these will be better.

I mainly want to use wireless car play and it seems to work. I did have to up the cur volume because it was “soft” at max but that fixed it.

Stock video app did not work, I’m going to set up an email for the LX and make a Google play account to try VLC.

Anyone know how to change the vehicle in the inclinometers?

I received the adapter box for the 4 cameras I have
View attachment 2242588

The existing setup has two connectors that are the same, one blue and one white. You would think the Blue one is the correct one, but it is the white one

Now all 4 cameras work. The rear camera comes on automatically in reverse

I did not realize that the icons at the top scroll and there are more if you swipe left or right. You have to scroll those across the top to the Console app and then use the setting icon. Then change the year to 2016. That enables the cameras to work

The first time it boots after install it takes 30-45 seconds. After that it goes into standby when you turn off the truck and turns on quickly

Probably some settings still to play with, but I am very happy and pleased

The only thing that appears not work is the rear DVD player and I knew that going in. There are Video and auxiliary inputs on the back to connect a rear entertainment setup, but I have no desire for one.
Hi, did you receive any documentation with the camera adapter box? I have the same and connected the white plug and the system doesn't trigger when backing up and no camera at all on the screen. Maybe I'm missing something in the harness or received a bad box? I have a 2013, no 360view.
Where does it specify the year model?

[Edit]

Many thanks, I found the Console->Settings and changed vehicle type... All worked fine.

I didn't receive any documentation. Sounds like you fixed your problem, correct?

I worked a bit on updating the firmware on my PX6 unit. I worked with a gentleman who seems to be a very valuable resource making custom updates for the android head units.

Here is a link to his page(I’m getting absolutely nothing out of this, other than passing along info)

In addition to getting some additional features his custom firmware allows you to get a much more OEM look to the boot up and home screens.

Pre-Boot Image(I’ll likely change this one out to my truck on top of Red Cone or something memorable)

This is absolutely killer. Has he maintained all the functionality in the updates? I noted some people losing the rear screen, nose/mirror cameras, etc.

He simply supplies some updated/tweaked firmware it does not change anything to do with the physical install which I believe is the limitation for rear screen and cameras. I don't have a rear screen and I know for a fact the factory cameras don't work and are not plugged into anything after install of the hardware.

I bought a 360 camera kit that I will install after the new year. My thoughts were the following:
1). It should work with the new head unit
2). Cameras are generic so easy to update/fix in the future vs the OEM ones which are $$$
3). New cameras are a higher resolution so hopefully a better image
4). I plan on installing a rear bumper and the OEM backup camera will be worthless anyway.

Has anyone had issues that you cannot reset oil maintenance with the unit installed? On our 2010 the procedure with the trip / odo button did not work until we swapped back to the stock or radio.

It worked on my 2009 LX...

I do have updated firmware but I doubt that matters.

I’m sure you guys know this better than most, but this was my process.

Selected trip A, turned truck off. Held trip/ODO, push start twice(no foot on brake), waited for the progress bar and then Complete

I dont have any issues

For those of you that have had these installed for awhile. What's your take and final recommendation? Are the remaining bugs non-issues? Or are there still frustrations in various use cases? Endless tinkering?

I've been wondering the same - there's surprisingly little discussion on these Tesla style units. Hopefully that means that everything is working perfectly, but it would definitely be nice to see some feedback on these. I've been debating going with one of these, but the EC Offroad unit works pretty well and I'm hesitant to spend the time and money only to find that I end up spending a ton of time trying to get things like the backup camera and climate controls working properly.

When posting feedback, it would be super useful to indicate the 200 series model year as these units each work with certain model years.

I've installed one ordered from China on my MY2013 Lc200.
Works fine all controls, camera, parking warnings
except for the passenger airbag warning (the amber seat let warning for baby seat). This does not light up on the tesla style unit.

Open to questions.

Nice to hear it‘s working well. Is yours using the stock backup camera?

I’m hoping for more feedback on people with the latest generation LC200’s as well, since I have a 2020 and some of the infotainment and HVAC controls are different.

I'll throw in my $0.02. I was going to order one of the large (Tesla style) PX6 head units, but as a super geek, I dug a bit deeper into the components used. The PX6 chip is pretty old. It was great a few years ago, but at this point, is nearing the end of it's useful span IF one hopes to keep updating to the newest Android OS for much longer. It is also likely that manufacturers will stop providing support and firmware updates for these relatively soon as this chip is phased out.

The newer chips such as UIS7862 and equivalents are much faster and support more hardware improvements like digital optical audio output. This means you can bypass the crappy DA section and anemic amplifier/preamp section of these HU's and go straight to a high-end amp or DSP for proper tuning and excellent sound quality. This along with the improved QLED screens, much snappier speeds and ability to receive and properly run updates and new OS's for at least a few more years is why I decided to go this route.

The newer Joying units are based on this chipset, along with the Teyes CC3, which is a good alternative to Joying. If you're a bit more adventurous and want something without a proprietary OS and locked down features, I'd go with an EKIY TS7 or similar 7862 HU. They have excellent support, the price is right, and they are a generic FYT, meaning they won't try to lock you into their little ecosystem with crippled firmware. There are many generic FYT HU providers that all sell pretty much the same generic FYT hardware, with possibly slightly modified stock OS (which can be changed) and/or slightly different accessories. Just watch out for crappy tech support. I tried reaching out to Kingbeats, Navifly and a few others. Kingbeats read my message but never replied. Navifly was slow to respond and didn't have a facade to fit 200 series. Teyes customer support barely spoke or understood English and took days of back and forth to get a simple answer to a simple question....just a giant waste of time. EKIY was BY FAR the best. They responded quickly, understood my questions, I understood their answers. They sent pictures with arrows inserted to point out specifics. They event sent a specific video taken just for me of the proper way to insert a connector I had an issue with. Some of the best customer service I've received anywhere. DEFINITELY not what I was expecting from a relatively no-name Chinese Ali Express FYT head unit reseller.

Here is the EKIY unit I bought. Make sure you get the version (A, B or C) that matches your factory HU wiring harness.

The main (only?) downside to these units is that so far, they're not making them with the large "Tesla style" screens, which is a bummer. I think that'd be super cool to have. Then again, the smaller 10.1" QLED is going to look much better than a huge 16" IPS in terms of brightness, contrast, color gamut, daylight visibility, etc.....so it's sort of a trade-off. Also, the smaller 10.1" screen looks way more like a realistic factory option (like the new 300's) and retains more of the real physical Land Cruiser buttons, which is a big plus.

So overall, unless you really, really like the big screen (at the cost of all these other things) I would recommend the newer 7862 based units. I just received mine from EKIY and will be documenting the install as a part of a larger series on the restoration of my salvaged 2008 TLC. You can bet I will be posting all of that here. Aloha!

Do you have any links to the specific products you recommend? A quick Google search for something like "EKIY TS7 Land Cruiser" wasn't very promising... Do these units provide access to the factory touchscreen HVAC controls? What about the factory backup camera? To me, integration with those 2 things are must haves. I really don't want to deal with running a cable for a replacement backup camera. The EC Offroad unit is pretty good overall and provides complete access to all factory infotainment, HVAC controls, and the factory backup camera (including automatically switching to and from the camera when needed). I suspect most people considering any of these options won't be willing to lose access to any of the factory HVAC controls and want something as close to plug and play as possible, for (I think) obvious reasons (easier to install with less ongoing tinckering required).

I just added a link for the one I bought, but here it is again: 210.9US $ 48% OFF|EKIY DSP 6+128G Android 10 For Toyota Land Cruiser 11 200 2007 2015 Car Radio Multimedia Video Player GPS Navi 2din BT Stereo HU|Car Multimedia Player| - AliExpress - https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002007344694.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.58924c4d2y8Jng

Make sure you order the correct version (A, B, or C) that matches your wiring harness. The one I got also came with a "free upgrade" to 8GB of RAM. Apparently it's real RAM....we'll see.

My understanding is that these units offer the same functionality as their PX6 predecessors and then some. There are discussions on XDA Dev forum about specific bugs in certain version or with certain firmware for certain vehicles.....that kind of thing will always be present whether in PX6, PX5, UIS 7862 form or otherwise. But they should include everything you'd expect, including HVAC controls. I'm not sure about integration with factory backup cam as I plan to install a new backup cam with a Sony sensor. I would imagine if the PX6 units support this, the 7862 ones will too. I know there are multiple inputs for cams on my 7862 from EKIY, and even one or two video outs, which I may even hook up to an upgrade external ceiling screen in the back to replace the old DVD screen.

Yes, stock camera. Need an additional $100 camera control unit for this.

So I installed a PX6 based Android unit in our 100 series and was thinking of doing the same for our 2009 LC. Some of the issues that make me hesitant are exactly what you mentioned and now I'm very intrigued about the unit you linked. I'd love to know more details about your install before pulling the trigger.
