All work is finally complete and its a beaut Clark!
This beautiful specimen has been our family adventure rig for many years.
Originally from Oregon, we moved the Landcrusier to Tennessee 3 years ago. It lived traversing forest service roads on both coasts, allowing my kids to grow up with the spirit of exploration.
We decided last year to finally perform a 5.3L LS swap to improve mileage, reliability, and to modernize the drivetrain. The swap includes cast iron hooker headers, Comp Cam (mild) cam, factory airbox, Mark’s Adapter (to Toyota t-case) and a refreshed 2008 Silverado donor motor. Custom harness. We also deleted the DoD/AFM system with new lifters. Vehicle has been wide band tuned. Engine is mated to a GM 4l60e.
Inside, the interior is GREAT. No tears or issues. The carpet on the rear tailgate has become a bit loose in some places; our plan was to install a tailgate lid system. We added a new Delta Vehicle Systems center locking console, and switch/gauge plate, along with some 3d printed cup and phone holders. Recent OEM rear glass.
Speaking of Delta Vehicle Systems, we mounted a beautiful Delta VS front bumper with a brand new Warn Zeon winch with synthetic rope and a Factor 55 fairlead. A pair of Baja Designs Squadron sport lights provide extra visibility on those dark forest roads.
The cruiser rides on brand new Icon Vehicle Dynamics shocks, and Method NV205 wheels, in bronze. The wheels are wrapped with 35” Goodyear Dynatrac tires with plenty of life left. The suspension is a OME, I believe in 2.5” but was installed in Oregon by the PO and I am not sure on the specs. A brand new King steering dampener rides up front.
Outside, the vehicle was repainted 3 years ago in the OEM Dark Emerald Pearl color. Fender flares were professionally deleted, welded, and the lines were bedlined along with the lower rocker sections. The Depo headlights were custom painted with black facing.
Underneath, you can tell it was a West coast rig, with no rust, save for little scabs of surface here and there. In some spots, factory stickers can still be seen from 1993 Japan. Front axle had complete rebuild 2 weeks ago. It is not a perfect rig however. The sunroof pops up as intended, and slides back some, but not all the way. Also, the LS swap is complete but we are struggling on the A/C system. We have modified A/C lines in place, new compressor, etc but the details need to be sorted. I plan to have this all sorted for the sale.
I would drive this powerful rig anywhere today. It’s a beautiful sample of an iconic vehicle, with the benefits of a modern, powerful, lightweight powerplant.
Price: $40k or trade for other 80 series, G500s, anything cool. Located in Oneida Tennessee.
