or more importantly, kits available for our 1962. toyodiy doesn't go back that far, my oldest parts manual isn't old enough, asphincter lists 25 only and 63 to whatever the f, and we blew a rear today, so it's time to face that piper guy.

worse comes to worse, we'll try to match but was hoping someone here had a number. preferably, a toyota number that is readily in stock for a pennies on the dollar :D
 
Search for ebay user gws-rareparts. He has front and rear kits for like $6/ea. good japanese Tokiko stuff, too.

you rock! four rear kits ordered. don't see fronts, but i can still find those everywhere, so time to purchase.

anyone know if the rear line is the same 60-70 also? we had to crimp it with vice grips to get off the trail and home, and i'm sure it's a dinosaur line and needs to be replaced now. everything i'm finding is yes.
 
will be following this thread, as Im just about to do all 8 of mine, and change...make all new lines. now looking for honing tool, and flaring kit...
 
$400, $200 ouch that's alot of money to spend on a too you rarely used. Curious what would be teh cost to have some made? Might be cheaper if your not making brake lines on a regular bases. I'm hoping to to have what ever brakes lines I need in my pile of brake lines I stripped out of old cruiser over the years. There are a few advantages of living in a desert.

As I'm told the '69 brakes are the same as the early 60's. Front brake hose is the same as rear, except from the spring that holds the front ones from sliding against the tires.
 
I think the tubing nuts are slightly bigger on the early 40's. Like 9mm instead 8mm.

I'm pretty sure Autozone rents the flare tool for 'free' with a deposit of your CC info.

Indeed they are 9mm. Available at Brakequip.
 
9mm is early, later is 10mm. Everything I found was 7/70 was the change.

If I remember correctly, some where's in the $200 or $250 range...plus shipping...and you can imagine those extra shipping fees would be retardedly high to ship up here...

that is a five year old thread, so you'd need to see if they still do them. also, they only did hard lines. poster got his soft lines from marks.

Yup, called a few months back, and they still do. I even tried to get a group buy going, but not enough interest...

even at my cost (wish I would have seen the Eastwood version), my kit paid for itself with 2 cars. I've completely re-tubed 5 vehicles in all and have 3 more of my own to do.

I've completely abandoned the single circuit system on all of my trucks except for the '59. I'll have to post some pictures some day of my retro's, but they could be easily considered age appropriate right down to the tin cups. doing so there would be few OEM lines that would match any of the routes my lines make in relation to the junctions. The only pre-made lines I could use would be the axle sections and those are the easiest to make.

It does not make any sense to me to not build my own lines, but that is me
