Yes it is. That ended with the 20 series. Expanded metal started in 61. TOYOTA emblem showed up mid 63.

Still has the high top thermostat and the early water pump though. Has me going

I figured it was. If anyone can chime in on year of the engine id appreciate it. I tried a link i found within this site but it errors.

Post a pict of the driver’s side of the motor under the manifold toward the front. There should be a Teq symbol with some numbers underneath that that are the block casting date stamp.

Dang well that really narrows down my audience to buy the extra early 45 mesh I have. Knew it was mid 63 when the Toyota emblem showed up and the landcruiser imprint went away. Had a 61 40 that ended up being parts and just acouple things still floating around after 20 years. Figured it was same in the 25s but haven’t dealt much with them. Learn something new everyday. Thanks

That makes sense. I believe the engine belongs to that frame then. When i had the numbers ran to make sure it was clear i was told frame number was april of 71. I wonder what the story was? Maybe someone liked the 25 body and thats what they had? Or maybe a lazy engine or running gear swap so to speak where they just threw the body onto a different chassis because they thought it was faster or easier. Who knows. The orig frame might be out there somewhere

Well since the vultures are already circling…
I’d be interested in the fuel tank filler and gas cap. I’m happy to replace with equivalent FJ-40 parts and cash.
What’s the info on the VIN plate on the passenger side of the firewall? I can’t see the detail from the pic. Or is that just the shadow of where it once was?
Also…maybe consider offering a body swap to someone here if you don’t want to cut up an early survivor. I bet someone here has an equivalent FJ-40 body they’d swap you?
I mean let’s be serious it’s not like any of us only have one….

Started trying to unlock the engine. Oil was real nasty. Drained it and replaced with some other used stuff i just took out of my daughters car. Checked all the valves- 1 was stuck open but freed right up with a whack. Ran the olil pump wih my drill motor, all seemed good but still wont roll over. Did the mystery oil thing in the cylinders- will see how that gos in a day or two. I found some other random parts in the battery box or tool box. ill clean em off and take some pics. Maybe someone can tell if they go to this thing.
