Looks like the truck's coming along beautifully, Scott. Bummer about the arm. You still going to be able to make the big run?

Aren't Kubotas great for helping with Landcruiser Builds? :D

When you are down to one good hand Kubotas can be life saving:D

Trying to take it easy to get healed up properly--which might mean I will be taking my Land Rover for the big run and as of right now still plan on going. Get my current cast off on the 10th for a reevaluation. Never broken anything before so I guess it was just my time.

Can you take a couple more pis of how you mounted the Man-a fre bumper?
Thanks
:)

You must have been on a LOT of pain killers when we talked, cause you made the hand sound like not so big of a deal.

Subscribed.

That's the first pic I've seen of the aux tank mounted under a short bed. I need to save that somewhere for future reference.:grinpimp:

I never got to talk with you about the Mark's gearset in the split case. I wasn't super impressed with the endplay tolerances on the tapered roller idler bearings. When you get a chance, stick your good hand inside that case and give the idler a wiggle.

Best

Mark A.

Making small steps forward. Was able to fabricate an alternator bracket with my left hand. Frame is back from the powder coaters and axles are back under it. Getting a lot of local help for some items-something about being down your dominant hand. Still a lot to do. Will be a little while before the rear bumper goes back on but I will make sue to post photos as everything comes together.

Mark no pain meds---just haven't given myself any down time to really thick about it---the show must go on. Besides still have one good hand and two feet. And as you will see---originally asked for a cast in Duck Tape-but was given the option of green or pink.:D

Looking good buddy!

Keep up the good work, and keeping honing those ambidexterity skills :D

Definitely learning patience when working with one hand--hell typing is a pain. I was able to mount the transmission to the engine. And then with a little more luck was able to set the engine in the frame. Had a slight set back when the transmission cross-member that I had prefabricated based on an existing truck would not work with this project---so then I fabricated a simple cross member so I could keep the project moving forward. This allowed me to get the cab set back on the body after being freshly undercoated inside and out . Starting to look like a truck again.

Try getting smacked in the head with a Hole-Hog whilst on a ladder- Nah, take my word for it, not fun but I did get some sense out of the deal. People didn't believe me when I said I cut myself (on my forehead) shaving. Lookin' good man!
Do you have some kind of connection on the 3.3's or just a volume discount?

I usually order the engines in pairs direct from Cummins---some discount but not much. I like to have at least one on hand at all times. Lately with the economy I have found companies do strange production run of items and don't alway have things in stock--or they wait till they have enough orders of an item before actually producing it. This can really hold a project up.

Great job on the build so far! Sorry to hear about your hand...

Good luck getting everything wrapped up.

Creeping along with progress. Trying to get the truck off to have the exhaust run this Tuesday. Hope to start rewiring the truck this Wednesday with some help. Found some new wiper motors that I will post a separate thread on that are a great option for replacing the original often failing motors. Worked on dash layout and used mostly existing holes to place all the switches I need. Still need to run the hydraulics. The good news is that I am out of my cast and into a removable brace--the doctor said that the bone is partially healed--but still has a crack present. Basically if I put too much pressure on my hand it feels like someone smacked it with a mini sledge. Here are a couple new photos.

Why wasn't I tuned in to this thread earlier? I don't know.

Very cool! Is that a manual transmission behind this B3.3, or is that just a shift linkage for a slush box?

Dan

Its the transmission (NV4500) which is almost as big as the engine. Might be a little bit of an overkill--but I like the gearing. Plus I found a killer deal on craigslist from someone whom had bought the transmission from Advanced.

Time for an update.... Exhaust is run---now wiring---which is almost complete as well. Modified the existing transmission cover to work with the new transmission--didn't turn out to bad for mainly being done with my left hand. I still have a brace on my right hand, which my doc tells me if I behave myself will not have to wear in a couple more weeks. Plans are to have it running in less than a week...
