From what i am reading shocks such as Fox, Icon, kiing and the others should be serviced every 40-60,000 miles or so. With the amount of miles i put on my truck i will be removing my shocks every two years or so. Last time i had my rear shocks out i remember one of the bolts for the mounting plates feeling a little "crummy" coming out. I should probably just run a tap up there to clean it out and use lots of antiseaze. But it had me thinking it is a area prone to rust and a area i would hate to strip. Has anyone ever though about putting studs in those holes and using nuts instead of bolts?

I figure that would reduce the risk of cross threading or damaging the threads that are welded to the frame at the top mount area. Any thoughts?

Sure - should work. Drill a cross hole through the existing mount, run your stud in and then spot weld through the two holes.

Or just use a bolt and nut. It's doable.

The factory threads are still good. I am just wanting to keep them that way. Maybe just studs and a little blue locktite?

Lol...or I could just not be a meathead and thread the OEM bolts in correctly.

Yeah I ran a tap through all of mine because 2 of them were half out and worn almost through the shank.

I can't remember the thread it's either 12x1.25 or 10x1.25

Always good to clean all of the threads on the suspension components because they do get rusty.
