I got mine with smooth bottoms, I wonder if that's the difference. I didn't want any channels I wasn't going to use, I figured spiders and mud wasps find every crevice possible.

Whatever you go with from a cross bar perspective just make sure you position the critical crossbars right next to the towers and anything mounted that is of substantial weight (RTT, etc.) is secured primarily to these crossbars. That principal alone is best practice regardless of what product you use.

How is everyone's wind noise with the change to 80/20 extrustions?

I do not notice any wind noise. Granted my almost 400k mile cruiser is generally a bit louder inside than those 200k mile cream puffs.

Definitely could be that. I wasn't smart enough to think of getting a smooth bottom

That is just the standard middle mount for the LC roof rack. LX does not have one.
