Those really are some bad A looking tires!!!

Stevo,
Glad the box finally got there!

I am up and going now! Got my turbo parts in and put all back together yesterday. Probably already have 50 miles on it with the straight exhaust. My wife says my son and I look to complete morons riding around grinning like ****!

here is our start up

Will start working on exhaust system today

That is awsome!

P.S. Where is your build thread?

Thanks Wyoming! No thread. I'm not that patient. I usually just end up on someone else's thread asking questions and throwing out an update every now and then.

Most recently--- Got my turbo fixed Stevo! Just the right amount of looking at what I had and what the problems were. Severe dirt dauber infestation in my shop and every hole that I leave open for more than a couple of days. Really sucks.

Next problem is oil coming out of my transfer case every where!!!

Can you unscrew the vent off the top of the case? It acts like its pressurizing and pushing oil out of every seal and gasket. Doesn't look like I'm loosing any oil out of my transmission. So I don't think its the input seal on the tcase.

Anybody have any suggestions I am at this things mercy right now, not really wanting to take it all apart to replace a seal!

Good to hear about the turbo, about the transfercase you can check to see if the breather is plugged and if it is you can clean it out and run an extension (tube of any kind really) up where it won't get any water in it.

How does that little vent/breather come apart or off? The cap seems to rattle like it should. I would just like to get it off and look at it from the inside.:bang:

You can just pop them off with a screwdriver I believe.

Work has been very busy, but I had some time to work on the front axle friday. The shocks are in and I am just waiting on some new calipers. Once I get my rims in and new tires on I will get some bumpstops on the front to prevent the tires from slamming into my fenders.

Hopefully sometime this week I will be able to drop the gas tank, pull the existing rear axle and get the 14 bolt and NP205 in. When I get those things done I can get measurements for my driveshafts and get this thing drivable.

I did a little bit of shop rearranging today to have more room to work around the back of the truck.

I put the back of the truck up on some jackstands and as it sits now is about an inch and a half short of its final ride height.

I pulled the rear axle tonight too.

With the old axle out of the way I shouldn't have any issue with dropping the gas tank.

I also realized when I pulled the gas tank that my rear shocks were blown. One had its line kinked that connected the reservoir so I will need to replace the line on that one, however the other one also was not working the way it was supposed to.

Been losing motivation on the build due to not having much time to work on the truck.

I did pick up some parts for the motor, a new index shaft and control lever for the injection pump.

I did have some time yesterday to work on getting the transfercase set into the truck. I have the mounting brace finished as well as the mounts welded to the frame. I just need to find a buddy to help me position it under the truck.

That looks like its going to be fun to install. Do the yokes mate with each other or is there a short drive shaft between the transmission and the TC? HD for sure. Is there an advantage to running a divorced TC?

Yeah the case is about 150-200 lbs and I will definitely need a buddy to get it installed.

There will need to be a short driveshaft to connect the trans to the tcase.

The only real advantages are that I can easily pull the engine and transmission in one shot.
I can also go to a local truck yard and grab any engine/manual trans combo from a medium duty truck that has is 2wd and all I would need to do to make it work is possibly modify the midshaft.

I'm not planning on having this motor blow up, but just in case I want to make the process as easy as possible.

I had a friend stop over and we managed to get the transfercase up on some blocks.

Now that its up where I want it I can build the crossmember to make locate it.
I measured and from the bottom of the case to the floor will be 23" with the 43" tires so that should be plenty. It is also set to the back of the frame a bit so it won't be an issue.

I don't know if that bracket on the transfer case is solid enough! Lol

More nice welding.

As always looking good Stevo! Glad to see you back on task. I am now sure my next big motor will have a divorced tcase! My mud truck buddies had all recommended that when I started. Don't get me wrong I like the idea of keeping the toybox there to add originality but I think that when you start wanting to add horsepower down the road it will need to go. Yours look like it will definitely stand some pressures!

I did get my oil leaks figured out. Had to drop it all out to find another one of those :censor: doh! things. High-low shifter shaft had dropped down past the seal and was letting oil get by. Looked worse than it was! All good, now driving around spinning some dirt to see where the weak links might be.

You don't have anything to work on unless you break it or buy a new project!!!!

Thanks, I wanted to make sure it was very strong to deal with the torque and also because I want to mount my traction bar to the transfercase crossmember. Its always better to be safe than sorry.
I've had some issues with the welder in the past but I think I have them all worked out.

Glad to hear things are getting sorted out on your end.
Like all things there are pros and cons to the divorced transfercase. In my particular case it provides extra strength and flexibility in case my transmission doesn't work out the way I want.
I would definitely be concerned about that toybox holding up to a tuned up cummins.

The crossmember for the transfercase is all roughed out.

I welded what I could while it was up under the truck. Hopefully it will stay pretty close to square while I finish gusseting and welding the rest of it.

I like it! Kind of Mad Max looking.

Yeah its rough looking for sure, hopefully once it gets finished up and painted it will look a bit cleaner.

Today I came home to find these guys waiting for me.
