Anyone know anything about Specter's new steel tubs? Besides being rather pricey in comparison to Aqualu's aluminum tubs. link below

Thanks,
I believe those are the ones made down in Panama by Paul Pilgrim. You can use the search function and maybe come up with something . I have not seen them but understand they are of very good quality.

I was at SOR last week had a chance to look at one first hand, TOP Quality ! cant say enough.

I wish I had gone this root saved a lot of heartache...Dusty

Keep it steel ! :bounce: my $.02

Yeah, I am getting a Heritage tub. They are made with the original Toyota stamps. They include all the emblem holes and other details. Definately call IPOR and talk to them about this. I think TLC 4X4 carries these as well.

Before spending all that money on a new tub, I've got a tub that is really solid that I don't need. Also, not too far away (Atlanta). I got it off of a parts rig that the PO was totally re-doing and lost interest half way through. PM me for pics and details.

Agreed! Zircon steel by Paul. Just wish the $ was a bit lower. (not saying they don't deserve it.... just wish it were lower for a bunch of knuckle heads like us).

:crybaby: Wish I lived closer!

Jonathon at www.Tlc4x4.com is the impoter of the tubs and has set up IPOR, SOR and others as dealers.

I cant wait to get a cruiser that needs one. It will save a huge amount of time and have all the original looks one wants and needs.

Dude I need to see what it would cost to pick one up in utah...although I may just put time into mine since it'll be a trail rig...or tube the body :D

Proffitts cruisers out of Delta Colorado has them also...I believe that would be the closest dealer to you. Their prices are the same as everyone else's....but you could probably save alot on shipping.

Heritage defintley has the nicest tubs avaliable if your looking to stay close to the original metal. He uses some of the old tooling used to build the originals and are as close as you can get to an original tub. Its the only way to go in my opinion if your tub is beyond just patching as mine is.

Wow. This may be what I need later down the road when I get to the bodywork on mine. But at almost $5K... she may remain on hunting camp duties for a while once the running gear is sorted out.

But, being that I've been thinking about restoring a seperate body to put on it later, this is a great option so that we can enjoy the cruiser once it's streetable (although ugly), and still be working on the resto.

Availability Issues

Yes, the tubs were very nice albeit pricy for trail use. Unfortunately, Paul raised the price beyond acceptance for us as well as 4 to 6 months for production and as of yesterday, we closed down the Heritage Sheet Metal Premium Line so expect the prices to go up.

We still have a few items in inventory (FJ45 body parts, half doors, few other odds and ends) but that'll be it for a good while from us. Iron Pig Off Road in VA now has the Heritage Sheet Metal TROA line and is looking to offer improved quality at very competitive pricing.

I hope things work out with this line(premium) and prices do not increase...I know wishful thinking!!!!!...I would like to purchase a 3/4 tub within this year....

Was just getting ready to order a set of premium heritage quaters... if anybody knows how I can get a set please let me know 78 FJ40

Just out of curiosity, where are you in relation to Vermont? Do you want something stout for a trail rig?

If you're willing to ship/pickup, I can put you in touch with the right guy.

if you do heavy wheeling in VT/MASS/CT/NH/Upstate NY

swing by tyke moses's "land cruiser emporium" in pownal VT...he builds heavy duty tubs...3/16" sides...you will break the rocks and trees before you break you rig :)

if you going for longevity go with Alum (esspecially if you are in northeast)

if you are going original looking and or stock go with heritage there is no comparison as i hear
