Used them and I've been happy with them. Bought them from Man-a-fre

The texture holds lots of extra mud/dirt compared to rubber ones. There are a lot of different extended lengths of rubber brake hoses available from NAPA or even Rock Auto. Much cheaper and work fine. I used rubber ones for a different application ( don't remember-been too long ago ) for my SOA Piggy. Think they were 22 or 24". John

I run them, I don't know if there was much improvement in braking. I used them on motorcycles with noticable increase in brake response but on the 60 I don't know if it was worth the money. I second that they are good at collecting debris.

i don't care much about them improving braking, just that they are not junk or degrade braking somehow. pretty sure i'm still on original rubber hoses. like i said i want to "fix" this now before it gets cold and i "have" to fix it now.

So my question is..... What length lines will you need for a small lift of 2-3". If there are NAPA equivalents I would like to go with those since they will be slightly cheaper and allow me to just go pick them up.

The purpose of SS lines vs rubber is they're much more resistant to abrasion and damage off-road. Also, old rubber lines expand more than new rubber and SS lines are supposed to expand even less meaning more braking efficiency.

I got mine from marksoffroad.net They're DOT cert and have been perfect for years.

I put the MAF SS line on the back of my 60. It fit well with the OME heavy springs.
I put the OEM rear brake line on the front as they are a little longer.

Napa part # 38009 is a 22". Sounds really long but they fit alright if you put one twist in the line. There were none in the state of ga so I just ordered them online.

There's also an 18" hose, part # 38431, but they were either back ordered or discontinued.

Joe, stop posting those "assembly-line clean" pics, you're giving my own cruiser an inferiority complex.

To the point, I too, used the NAPA 38009 and left a loop in it. I'd already planned on using a spring to suspend the hose away from moving parts but it ended up not needed and just a place to hold more mud.

Joe, what's that line coming out of the diff housing? Air locker ?

Yup. That number sounds right. Been a long time ago. Cheaper and quicker delivery for me. They arfe DOT certified and work just as well as 99.9 % of the other cars on the road. These rubber hoses have a bit more than JUST rubber in them. They are fabric woven and will last a mighty long time. John

I've run the SS lines for several years now, and they work great. No improvement in braking itself per se, but the pedal feel is somewhat improved. This was replacing a set of rubber hoses that were only two years old at the time too.

Been running the SS brake lines for many years now. Blew out the front down line before taking all my rubber hoses to a speed shop and having a new set made up while I waited. Much better to replace them before you blow one out.

Lol
Can't help it. I took 1952 disassembly and assembly pics. I have an example for every part on a 60. :flipoff2:

Yes Spike.
That's the optional heavy air line. It reaches up to the frame channel and converts to the small plastic blue line.

Ah, thanks - never seen what the HD line looked like ...

Well after tackling the caliper rebuild yesterday I can say that next item on the short list is going to be replacing the flex lines from the axle housing to the caliper banjo-thingy. The ends were pretty cracked so I will probably just order the 22" ones from my local NAPA when I am back from vacation in a couple weeks.

Quick question, when searching the product #38009 on the NAPA site it comes back with 3 lines, one is right rear, one is left rear, and one just says rear. Any of these will work correct? Both front and back?

IIRC, it is all the same hose. Some applications use a separate brake line from frame to axle on each side, left and right. Some like ours use only one closer to the center.

On the axle to caliper hoses, just use stock sized parts there. Don't need a longer hose. Just need the longer one for frame to axle due to suspension increase. John
