Here's some Fall Friday Fun for y'all!

We have been working long and hard to bring you a header for the 2f (and F) engine that is worthy of your attention.

This all started in early 2022 when @gonzopancho purchased the rights to the header that was originally designed and manufactured by Jim @Downey and then sold to Mark @65swb45 : FJ40 Mark/Downey Header - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fj40-mark-downey-header.1267016/page-3#post-14293492

We painstakingly did the work of evaluating the original design, test-fitting multiple versions of the header on various 40s: @bottombracket , @PabloCruise , @Dianna .

During this work, we also had the master, Jim C @FJ40Jim take a look at the header and evaluate the fit on a 60. And it was good...

Once we had the design work done, then it was time to get manufacturing. This sounds like it should be easy, but it was harder than you think in the current labor market.

The good news is, we finally have adequate inventory to justify making some noise about our header in the 60 section!

If you want to get down in the weeds of all the details we ironed out as part of this process, here is a fine place to start: FJ40 Mark/Downey Header - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/fj40-mark-downey-header.1267016/page-19#post-15294019

If you just want to get down to business, here is our listing in the Vendor section: TriMeki 2F/F Stainless Steel Header & Exhaust System - https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/trimeki-2f-f-stainless-steel-header-exhaust-system.1337067/

And because we all love the pictures:

Downey/Mark's Off Road had a C.A.R.B Certified version that had provisions for EGR cooler (I have one on my 40). IIRC, Mark said it was certified for FJ60 up until '84, only because that's when the testing was done... I'm guessing there won't be a C.A.R.B version with this incredible SS resurrection?

I'll let @Fe3 speak on this, but I'm hoping for that as well. Denver emissions testing...

A CARB version is possible.
We are very interested in what people want.
Ideally, there is enough demand for a CARB cert header that it makes economic sense to produce this.

Are you interested in a CARB version for 60s? 40s? Other?

it would be nice one day down the road. I have some other stuff that will take immediate financial priority - getting my spare 2F built, getting my 40 running - but yes I would potentially be interested.

A question for you - how important is the stainless steel for a CARB cert version of the header?
What if we could produce one, but in carbon steel?

Has this been tested with EFI applications? The reason I ask is the oxygen sensor placement seems too close to the header collector. Referencing this page from Holley, 4th section down.

We have not tested on any of the prototype rigs, but we have discussed the placement of the bung - see here:
