Yep, sounds about right. Horrible squeek when it gets cold out for about 2 or 3 minutes until things warm up, then it goes away. Y'all have inspired me to go see if I can lubricate that darn squeek.

mine started make this sound only cold mornings leaving the driveway until i hit the end of the road. i sprayed a little homemade penetrant (50% atf 50% acetone) behind the steering wheel seemed to solve my problem, hope it helps. but dont use to much because of the acetone smell.

Acetone will eat anything plastic...

Squeak's back in the mornings. Cold weather has hit mid-MO. I just laugh now and use it as a built-in temperature gauge. :p

I just put some dielectric grease on the horn ring using a Q-tip. Problem gone. I'm betting that's the issue. Happen on my 60, happen on my 80 and now my 100 is making that same squeak with the temps in the Teens.

X2

This is a common problem that is fixed in less than a minute. If you want it to last longer between your PM use a good dielectric grease.

Bringing this back as my steering wheel started squeaking after replacing the firewall shaft seal. I turned the wheel a few times while everything was disconnected and whatever I did that's when it started. Where exactly do you put the grease?

The grease is placed between the st/wheel and the brass part that touches the st/wheel for your horn.

Drove it again this evening, the squeak sounds almost like rubber or plastic on rubber/plastic?? Do the plastic covers need be removed?

Mine does it turning it to the left at certain point just a quick churp and then a full rotation and churp again. Figure its the Air bag thing that was mentioned earlier since its a 95 with an airbag.

I think you'll find the same solution to the noise. Dielectric grease on the ring and
the brass pin.

I replaced the clock spring on my 96. I buttoned her up and SQUEEK! :o Found out that it was my worn out bushing on the steering shaft at the fire wall.

So, if anyone wants a presumably good clock spring for theirs, I'll make you a deal...but first check the shaft at the firewall.

Read this. Pretty much what everyone else said. Silicone lube and your good.

Horn Ring?

Please, post a picture of the horn ring from a 1994 LC mentioned below so I can get rif of the squeaky steering. Thanks for your help.
