Appreciate the comments. For clarity, where you say metal is more useable and is less likely to crack. Do you mean when compared to an alloy (steel)?

I had a type-o there:
Metal steel skid plates are more "re-usable "and less likely to crack compared with aluminum, however aluminum is very light weight compared with the heavy steel skid plates.

Hi Guys,

I am planning to change my rotors, pads, and cables with
1. DBA T3 4000
2. DBA SP Pads
3. Goodridge brakes ss cables

due i just cant live with the mushroom brake ( coming from amg cars) , Do you think this is a wise upgrade ?
Also due i am located in Asia, any stores that could ship internatonally or maybe Australia ( so i could send to my friends there )

THanksss

Lx570 2014 here I am planning to camp with super light offroad,

do you think changing tyres from stock to AT enough ?
Yes, just be careful of anything that may mess up your running boards. Lots of folks go offroad in 20's

If you're talking about the GFC Superlite tent, I've got one coming too.

AT tires is all you need. Throw some 295/55R20 on and go rip up some trail.

Also do a fluid flush as that will help. If you can ship from Australia, I believe terrain tamer makes brake kits for 200. They seem to he a solid Australian brand

Are there many companies that make a dual tire swing out rear bumper? I struggled finding anything with the search option here. The easy one I can find is ARB. I have seen 1 off CBI bumpers but not on their website. Just curious what the options are.

Kaymar makes dual tire swing outs. Long Range America imports Kaymar

@indycole has a killer setup with dual Tire swing outs. Not for certain but I think it’s a Slee bumper. Hopefully he’ll chime in.

Yes, my rear bumper is a semi-custom version from @TRAIL TAILOR. It's been pretty much flawless despite being the prototype for the 2016+ models. He's done multiple configurations but I'm not sure if he's currently offering a production rear bumper? It seems like he's been having too much fun doing one-off custom builds and other stuff :)

Separately, I do know a couple folks who have gotten two spares to fit on the Slee bumper with some custom bracketry. The Slee bumper is pretty amazing and that's what I'd have if working with Jason wasn't an option.

The Kaymar is also a solid option.

Somewhat of a tech question, and definitely stupid. 😉

I’m invested in Makita 18V battery tools, and I’m considering a driver instead of the hand tools I’ve been using for 50 odd years; getting lazy, I guess. If i could only get one, do you guys generally use an impact driver or an impact wrench for automotive and general use? (Lug nut removal, trailer jack, suspension, lag bolts, etc. )

I’m thinking I’d mostly be fine with the driver, but would be irked if I needed more juice.

Whatcha use? Thanks!

@Slow Paddler, I hate to say it, but I’d recommend buying both.

If you’re set on only one for shop use, I’d get the bigger impact gun. Just use hand tools for everything smaller.

For construction projects and around the house, the smaller impact driver is more useful.

In my experience, the little impact driver doesn’t have enough torque for lug nuts and large fasteners, and the big one has too much torque for small fasteners.

I’m also very vested in the Makita lxt 18v tools. They hooked me with a good deal on a five tool (circular saw, hammer drill, impact driver, reciprocating saw, flashlight) set, and I got a free “bare tool” out of it - I chose the large impact wrench and am glad I did.

I’ve had that set since 2011, and the tools are all going strong (I’ve been through batteries though). That includes a full house build and an addition, plus lots of garage use on vehicle builds and repairs - so not light duty.

My latest acquisition is the string trimmer and chainsaw - hoping to eliminate gas tools from our yard work inventory. Plus it gets me eight more batteries -mwahahahaha.

Okay! I'll tell Deb that you said I could should. :) Thanks!

Honestly, I figured that was the answer. I occasionally dig out my air gun when nothing else works, and the battery drill is almost enough most of the time. Santa left me the chainsaw at Christmas, so I have four new 5Ah batteries to supplement the older 3 and 1.5Ah batteries.

I've been a Makita snob since 2006 when I bought my first 18V LXT drill and impact driver combo. I still have the hammer drill, but the impact finally gave up on me earlier this year, it had a hard life and didn't owe me anything. Too many trips to the floor...

So I went to Amazon and got this one which is much better anyway, but it won't do big stuff like lug nuts.

I lost count of how many Makita tools I have now, they've all been great. I have this impact wrench now, it is a beast, it stays in the truck.

It is stronger (torque) than my IR air impact, so that is retired.
