Been reading through here on Fumoto drain valves… any real world issues with the short or normal length one on our 200s? In particular, in off-road applications?

Looking at the geometry down there with my armor in place, feel like it would take something special to cause an issue, just wondering if I’m missing anything.
I use the "Compact" version of this: The Best Quick Oil Drain Plugs - No-Spill Systems - https://nospillsystems.com/ and it works great with my Slee skidplates, I do not need to remove the small access plate in order to drain the oil. The hose goes right into my milk jug, don't even need a drain pan.

It works great and I have 10+ years of experience with these products with no issues at all (2 tacomas + LC).

On my other vehicle, I have a fumoto valve and have no issues with it either. I do install a small zip-tie in the groove of the ball valve lever, that way there is no way for the lever to move to the open position while driving. Each oil change, I cut the ziptie and then install a new one.

Stupid Question of the day... but first some background.

Just rolled into work this morning and 2 things are not working, but I DON'T know if they are related. My "beep" upon locking and unlocking doors is no longer working and my fan to my AC/Heater/Defroster quit working on the FRONT of the vehicle so no heat on my cold toes and a fogged up windshield. The defroster in the back still works.

So the question is: Does anyone know if they are on the same fuse? And do I have a minor issue or a potentially major issue?

Thanks in advance to the knowledge here!!

2013 lx 570. I figured it is 10 years old. I am thinking of new bulbs. Do you think I should go with Toshiba or Phillips xenon hid?

I'm really, really happy with the Philips xtremevision 2 bulbs I have in my low beams.. but the osram nightbreakers are a lot cheaper and also very good.

I'd be pulling the front door sill trim to look for water in there around the harnesses, stat.

Water on the harness in the door affects the Beep and the AC/Heat unit?? Or am I misunderstanding?
It’s in the door sill, near the driver and front passenger feet. And it can impact nearly anything electrical in these vehicles.

Okay, I'm gonna start there and with the fuses when I get home. It's too damn cold no to have my heater running!

Thanks!

SQOTD: Our gas tank is 25 gallons, correct? 2011 LC
Your “miles to empty” is based on “empty” leaving 4-5 in the tank as a buffer though.

24.6 officially. I can also confirm officially adding 23.9 at least once

Thanks…exactly why I am trying to be exact. Dialing in my Scangauge 3 and I put 25 gallons. (No idea on the tank time numbers…obviously wrong) The low fuel light came on here:

I'm curious about the extent of our trucks exchanging data with Toyota HQ and the conditions under which it happens.

Drawing a blank on possible search terms, so any suggestions would be appreciated.

*** Not yet to the point of cutting wires or pulling electronics - just curious.

My low fuel light comes on at 19.5.

@Markuson said he’s put a full 25 gallons in before. I’ve never tried to go full Kramer on my tank though, and the 23.9 was the result of going through 3 towns on the way from Abilene to Oklahoma which had no stations.

No way I have the cojones to go that far. Haha. This should be very accurate, but was surprised when the low fuel light came on when it did. I’ll keep trying to dial it in.

I do carry a rotopax on long trips, so conceivably I might run my tank dry at some point in my life. However I’m likely to have a trailer attached when I do and with the weight it puts the rear end a bit lower than the front so I’m not sure if the tank will completely empty. I once ran my 3rd gen 4Runner out of fuel with 1/8 of a tank showing because I had a U-Haul on the hitch. Normally the truck would go well below empty.

I'm pretty sure the extent is zero?

@Willie G

TLDR: Unclear, but above zero in a 2021 in certain circumstances.

I just got an email saying my "stolen vehicle location" option will run out in June. It listed a phone number to call if your car gets stolen so they can share location data with police to "minimize damage" while vehicle stolen. In addition to this, there's a crash alert feature too (SOS button related?) that I have thankfully never had to use.

I ran my tank down to see how low it would go and while dropping off my daughter, I was sitting idle -- the parking spot was on a hill, I was nose down and I unexpectedly ran out of gas. Luckily there was a curb and I had enough space for momentum to pop my front tire on the curb -- this leveled me out enough to start her back up and rush to the gas station.

Just my experience/thought with the 200 -- I think towing a trailer would empty the tank more than normal ride height.

Yeah, I don't know about a 4runner but our fuel pump module is near the rear of the tank. I think this is to help prevent fuel starvation during climbs.. plus it's a packaging thing, as the tank gets taller toward the back.

I assume the 4R was up front - as soon as I detached the trailer it started right up.

Hadn’t thought about the pump location on our rigs but if it’s further back the rake/load might have a small bearing on distance

This may also be year dependent. I know the earlier models that only had 3G cellular radios in them should be disconnected from a cellular connection. Or at least, Toyota/Lexus stopped supporting any features that were carried over that network. From that link looks like LCs previous to 2018 had 3G cellular radios.
