So having gone down this road and needing a radiator for my '79 FJ55, I thought I'd document my findings here. First, the Performance Radiator '79 Toyota Land Cruiser radiator is in fact for a FJ40 and will not work in the FJ55 (you guys knew that). Second, the
Summit P/N380319 aluminum radiator is the perfect size but doesn't come with any mounting provisions so you'll have to tig weld on aluminum brackets ($$ in my neck of the woods). Third, I chased down the Plymouth Trailduster ghost and came up short but gained some documentation for the Knights. The radiator that supposedly is a direct bolt in is from a 1977 Plymouth Trailduster/Dodge Ramcharger with either the 5.2/5.9/6.6/7.2L V8 engine. There are 3 widths of radiator available for these trucks, you are looking for the 3-core with the 26 3/4" wide core. I was unable to confirm the direct fit, but was able to determine the 21 1/2" wide core was too narrow for the FJ55 (so this is the only wider option). My local Performance Radiator only had the latter in stock, and I didn't feel like paying $100 to have the other shipped from Houston w/o knowing it would work for sure. I ended up having mine re-cored which is definitely a more expensive option
Hope this info helps someone down the road ...
