Found the hinge and the damperer on Aliexpress for under $50. Came with a template for the captured nut. This was game changer.

Did this come with the bolt that goes into the existing weld nut?

The kit I purchased came with 2 different bolts to use with the nut.

Which bolt did you end up using? Mine also came with 2, you can see them in the picture I took of the kit.

I tested both of them to find the one that matches the thread pitch in the nut. You will know right away as you try to tread it in. Test them after you open up the hole.

I am guessing Toyota changed the nut during some model year change.

I thought bad of this, the damn lower tailgate would just fall off if not attended, when opening...

After all TOYOTA (LEXUS?) thought of this and it wil be, probably, another mod to perform on my LC.
