Any updates? Very slick idea.

Same exact situation, still have no hardware.
I still only have half the final design set in my truck (that has been working great all summer), still not installed on the other side due to lack of hardware.

The good news is that last week my hardware supplier let me know that he has been able to get everything other than the actuators, so that is actually a huge plus.

I am not ignoring this thread, just not much to post up yet.
The 80 windows will be next.

Sounds good. Bummer about the hardware source taking so long. It is nice to see that you are ensuring that it is done right the first time though.

I will be ready for a set whenever you are :)

I am in the aerospace industry and your attention to detail is similar to that in aircraft manufacturing. Good on ya!

Mmmm, 80 series....... possibly do internal ribbed T6 alum panels instead of the glass?

absolutely beautiful execution. I will be buying a set come hell or high water. If you have started a list please include me in it.

If side access is what your after these are stupid cool. I was lucky enough to see them this week and I have to say they are typical of everything Kevin does AWESOME! Now we need to get him to make them so they also slide.

I think sliding might be a long shot from what can be done with these. I do, however have a set of Aussie sliding windows with the frames powdercoated that, if I can remove them without causing any damage, I'll be putting up for sale once I have a set of Kevin's window hardware.

Man am I glad I saved my factory one-piece glass windows now :D

I would LOVE to put some windows like this in my 80!!!!! Awesome job, your products look awesome!

Kevin, Patiently waiting in line... Any updates or teaser pics for an 80 series cargo window? After having installed your cargo lid and seeing first hand your quality and workmanship, I have no doubt that the cargo window will be of the same caliber. Like noted earlier, just patiently waiting amongst many. Thank you.

I`m also interested in, probably without glass - and with riffle Aluminium - for my Land Cruiser 200...

The only question is, how good the noise protection is, with such a solution

Great Job!

It's to late to read through it but a few ideas that may have crossed your mind, but not touched on.

1. what about not having the hinges tapes to the glass, but marking them and having a glass shop drill the holes for a shouldered bolt.

2. My buddies work van has all his windows on a remote, this would be a great option, not only on a fob, but momentary switch on the dash.

3. Is there any thought on a cable release inside the tailgate jamb?

4. I have seen a ss rod that had a knob that limited it's movement, this way you can have the window open at any angle, thus a dog in the back has fresh air, to driving with them opened a few inches.

But again, don't fawk with what's not broken...

I can answer your first point, since I had asked it myself a while back. The OEM windows are tempered glass, so anything that would physically alter the glass in any way would make it shatter completely, no matter how carefully cut or drilled it would be. That's why Kevin ended up trying to find a method to securely adhere the hinge plates to the glass.

Thanks Deyon, I've got nothing to show for the 80s, all things 80 are delayed until I can get an 80 to work with (at least the back half of one). I need one to finish the side panel design and get working on the windows. The problem is that I need a fairly permanent side-yard resident, not a "I can leave mine there for the weekend", or even ".....the month" It will take lots of going back and forth with templates and test pieces to finish up both the designs.

Solid panels will be an option with any of the windows, the inside should be lined with an acoustic foam.

1.Spook got you covered on the first point, no disturbing the surface at all for tempered glass.
2.The plan and overall vision has been to avoid any electronics or electrical components, simple straight forward mechanical components only.
3.Yes, but really only as an alternative to the exterior release, I quickly ruled it out though since the point was to be able to get into the cargo area without having to deal with everything on the bumper and the tailgate/lift-gate combo. If you want to get the windows open from the inside all that needs to happen is you need to press down the actuators (a critical part for camping in the back of the truck is to be able to open them from inside as well)
4.I'm going to stick with my "sliding widows are vents. flip up windows are for utility". I have played with all kinds of options for opening the windows slightly but each one of them just leaves room for something to go wrong, or just simple user error. These windows will need to be firmly shut whenever the vehicle is moving. (as a side note you will be able to pop them out in just a few seconds for that convertible-like driving experience [off road only]).

The 60 windows are soooooo close. :bang:
