Looks great Ron!

Why not just weld aluminum screws to your glove box door? You could probably get away with using the aluminum rod and an Oxy-Acetylene torch if you don’t have a TIG.

Thanks Man and I thought about trying it, but to be honest, worried about screwing up the glove box door. Don't feel like making another. I might try later on, because I really don't like the screw heads there.

I need to read up on that stuff. I keep seeing people using in fabricating panels, etc.

Thanks,

Day of the dashes. Just looked at JMack's and not even sure I should post mine. :) Panels are aluminum and will get powder coated black. I'm thinking of making the glove box panel out of steel, so I could weld studs on the back and not have the screw heads. Here's a look.

Ron, what size thread are the screws on glove box? What about a stainless steel stand off. PEM fasteners. could send them with cargo panels.

Thanks Bob.

Man, I looked up those PEM fasteners, neat stuff! The screws are 5mm and I'm thinking on trying to JB Weld studs in the holes. I can file down the front and powder coat. If that doesn't work, maybe try those PEM studs.

I do have some more alum plate if needed, just trying to move along. Spring is coming!

Thanks Bob for the offer!

wow, think you are being hard on yourself!, looks really nice to me!!

Countersink the screws and paint them black.

Thanks Guys,

I never thought about just counter sinking them. Good idea. I'm right in the middle of JB Welding them, we'll see how that works out.

Counter sinking would work, because this is going over them when done anyway.

Short story that some have heard already. My Uncle, back in the fifties and sixties, sold jeeps out of his gas station. We grew up with Jeeps of all kinds in the family. My Dad always had the Willys Overland station wagons and his favorite name for them was MUD HEN. So be it, that's it's name. It's the only reason I became attached to Landcruisers, they looked like the station wagon.

Toyota was giving away those name plates for awhile, anything you wanted up to 6 or 8 letters.

Hey Jason,

Those pictures don't do the plates justice. They are really nice stainless pieces. I'm waiting to get the wiring done and then mount the plates.

Bob's your guy, he knows his stuff.

Ron,
Have you tried to run any of your AC ducting yet?
I'm having an issue with my rectangle vents and the 2" duct hose and need to put a call into Restomod tomorrow but would like to know what you did on yours.

No, I'm waiting until the wiring is done. I did play around with it and found out the duct goes on the inside of the oval. I was trying to slip the duct over the oval and it doesn't fit. Getting some of those vent screws in were a pain.

That's exactly what I was afraid of, mine will also fit on the inside but it's not very secure.
Guess I will call Restomod and see what they say. Thanks!

Yeah, I didn't like the design either. Just the two clips to hold it in there. I'm not sure if it will be a problem down the road or not? Let me know if you think of a good fix.

I haven't looked yet, but if the allen head screws on the face are real and not just decorative, I was thinking of replacing them with longer screws, and having nuts welded to the backside of the dash to screw into so that the vents screw in from the front instead of the stock setup from behind. Not sure that will work but I'll take a look next time I'm out there.

Ron, your pig continues to inspire jealousy. Great work man!
