Did you move the oche closer for her as well :)

We used to call that the ‘daddy’s boots’ rule

Hope u let her win at least one lol
Of course she was closer. She won against her 3 year old sister….

I’ve been super sick for the last week; the last week which I took off work specifically to get a bunch of projects done…. Today I felt well enough to actually knock out a bit of stuff I’ve been wanting to do.
First, I knew my front end was probably toe out a little because I felt like I could see it. That and the rapid wear on the inside half of both front tires meant I’ll look at that. I’m now 1/16” toe in. Wait for it….. it was 1-7/8” toe out!!!! It actually drove really well before but is even better now! Doesn’t catch the road grooves at all anymore.
Next I greased and adjusted the center arm. After greasing, it’s about 1 flat on the big hex tighter (1/6 of a turn). I had about 1.5” steering wheel play and now there is none noticeable. Had it up to over 80 with a finger on the wheel and tracking straight and no wander.
Next I looked at my back brakes (the rear brake lockup thread made me think of this). I have manual brakes with front discs and it seems to be taking progressively more leg effort the last few months. Tightened up the rears and way more betterer…. Took about 7 clicks per wheel cylinder. Had all 4 tires off the ground and the rears only stopped when pedal was fully depressed and even then I could still turn the tire if I tried really hard.
Then tweaked my wiper blades a little for better contact because, uh… I’m in Washington.
Did a little more sniper cold start tuning as well.
After all that, I looked at my Chevelle because the exhaust has been hitting the frame. 1 u bolt clamp was missing right off the collector. I know this was from before I raised the ride height and I was bottoming out on those clamps. Must’ve ground all the way through…. Found where it was touching frame at the shaky idle and was able to tweak it for better clearance.

And again, I didn’t take any pics. But…. After ALLLLL that, I helped my 6 year old decorate her special shirt for her 100th day of kindergarten. Did get a pic of that. We glued on gems.

That’s called “bedazzled” … I have two girls … they love to bedazzle :meh:

My boys do not

They like to color in the lettering with black marker so you can’t see the writing on the black shirts lol

That’s a lot of projects getting done… I’m lucky to get one

Must be on the same school calendar! We just hit our 100th day as well. I am ready for the summer already haha these students are getting the winter stir craziness. I did not get as much done as I wanted this past weekend as well because I caught a bad cold thats going around the school.

My next big project was going to be AC in the 40 but due to some unforeseen changing circumstances, that’s on hold.

What are those unforeseen changing circumstances?

For some reason I bought an 87 60 series last night.

thats a good looking one! I have always loved the fj60s. There is one in the same color on the island.

Well I guess no 40 work isn’t accurate. I ordered some gas struts to put inside the rear hatch spring/ struts. The first set I ordered is seen referenced in a few threads but the body of them was too big to fit inside the smaller tube of the stock struts (common part #5200-50). I sent them back and ordered a different set with 15mm body diameter and they fit great (JR Products GSNI-5200-50). Unscrew the socket ends and they were about 5/8” too short for full extension. I had some Delrin square stock so I cut and tapped it to fit and that was the ticket! A coupling nut would’ve worked just as well.
Seems to pop open well and hold itself up just fine. These are 50# struts; I’d even go higher to 60# if available.

First set I ordered. Tube body was too big. Not sure if later models have a larger tube diameter as many people said they worked fine.

Factory struts disassembled (thinner, upper tube is the problem one).

Second set with delrin spacer. I rounded the spacer a little to fit in the upper tube.

The spring and the white-ish plastic spacer don’t get reused. I’ll toss them in the box of take off factory parts from this cruiser, just in case.

It will be nice not having the rear lift hatch slam down on your head anymore. :) What are your plans for the 60 series? That is a very clean interior.

I’m not sure yet on the 60. I’ve wanted one for a long time. I have an 04 4Runner and if I keep the 60 when done, I’ll sell the 4Runner. Anymore with my 40 running how it is, I only drive the 4Runner when it’s raining pretty good or long trips to go hunting. A 60 series with a Sniper, small lift, maybe air lockers….. that could take the 4Runner’s place…..

At a minimum I’m going to get it running and driving reliably and safely, clean interior and recover the seats, then drive it awhile to see what speaks to me.

Cold this morning.

Cold this morning.
Air temps were -11F here yesterday morning, wind chill -30F.
Cruiser was in my attached garage and the Sniper CTS was 19 degrees.
I test fired just to see if it would start, and it worked. I was amazed.
Of course Idle was low (~600), IAC was pegged, and you had to baby the throttle or it would stall.

These Snipers are amazing, I can't imagine that my carb would have started so quickly/easily in those temps.

Hellgate winds were howling yesterday!! I was up at LB Snow and almost lost my drivers side door to the wind when I opened it!

Took a break from working on the 60 and took the kids to the hills for some sledding. 120 ish miles and 2 sleepy kids. Yes! We can stop for a cocktail!

What’s your thoughts on the car seats in the jump
Seats? Looks like one takes up an entire jump?

I’m looking at the file and Tumble, however I’m really wanting to go coral interior on my OE bench, so matching the fold would be a customer job

@clrussell I’ve got the long jumps. We put 1 kid on each side and offset them (1 car seat toward the front, 1 toward the rear). Next to each other they just fight and take each other’s stuff. Same directly across from each other. When we take the dog, both car seats go on the same side, fold up the other seat so the dog has somewhere to sit/lay.

I have had cruisers and jeeps with the fold and tumble. I feel like we have way more room with the jump seats. But, fold and tumble seems to be better if you have anything more than half size humans back there.

Thank you for the info. And the pics.

I’ve got three tiny humans and trying to figure out how to manage that in the 40.

8,6 and 1 year old.

My though on the cold and tumble was one of the big kids could ride up front and one in the back with the car seat.

No cruiser work this weekend. Going to hit some trails with some friends out of town. Helping one change gears in his hot rod while I’m here. 64 Ford Galaxie R code, factory 427 car. His dad bought this car 4 years old and passed to my buddy a couple years ago when he passed.
