Good day in the hills. My cruiser and 5 jeep rubicons. Everyone got stuck in some fashion at least once. Everyone commented the cruiser seemed to be having the easiest time.

Does your Cruiser have lockers like the Rubicons?
Nope, stock open diffs. And half of them didn’t know how their lockers operated.
I think it was the narrower profile of the cruiser and tires and they all had wide tires with wide stances and were getting pulled into ruts and stuff. Just seemed to be able to point the cruiser and it’d go.

Good to know. Thanks. Your Cruiser looks great btw.

Been driving the hell out of the 40 lately. But now….
Big changes in my future with hopefully a lot more mountain driving the 40 and less commuting and errand running. Me and Mrs. Skreddy decided to move across the state to the Spokane area. Packing up the little Skreddy’s and all our junk and see what happens I guess. Hopefully we will find somewhere with enough room I can pack a few more 40 projects into my life…..

Awesome news

Keep going east until you cross the state line!
2 state lines….

I got offered something down in your neck of the woods. Wasn’t a Target store within 50 miles and that was the deal killer.
(That’s half a joke….)

Top off and went to help a buddy on his farm for a little bit. 40 has been daily driver status until it got just too damn hot with the top on.

First time I’ve ever drove with the windshield down.

I picked up a front end noise in the last couple weeks. It’s in the front driver wheel/knuckle like a chirp chirp chirp once it’s warm. I took it apart down to the knuckle and I think I know what it is. This is mini truck knuckles out on the 1970 axle housing so I had to grind the housing for the birfield to fit. You can see my grinding marks then a smooth area around the trunion bearing casting: I think I didn’t grind enough and the birfield is contacting the housing at times. Going to clearance a little more and get it back together and see if that was it. The birfield looks fine, just a little smoother but it’s hardened so guessing that’s why the housing shows more wear.

Interesting! Did you use an SST (centering tool) when you did the kuckles?

Just saw this. No I didn’t use it. When I did the rebuild when I bought it I used the shims that were on it. I swapped mini truck knuckles and I think by dumb luck, the mini shim stack and my drum shim stacks were the same or at least within tolerance so I went with it.

Finally swapped the convex mirrors I bought a few months ago. The old round mirrors were not stock and the threads in the mirror arms were the wrong size so I cut the ends off the arms and welded on a nut. Hit them with some rustoleum metallic satin nickel and I have much better rear vision. I had a pterodactyl helper.
