Finally swapped the convex mirrors I bought a few months ago. The old round mirrors were not stock and the threads in the mirror arms were the wrong size so I cut the ends off the arms and welded on a nut. Hit them with some rustoleum metallic satin nickel and I have much better rear vision. I had a pterodactyl helper.

Where do I get those mirror arms and heads?

Oh, and the pterodactyl compliments the rig!

@Skreddy lookimg back through I see you used a non abs 80 master.

Rear brakes on front port is what I remember you told me.

Are you running a proportioning valve? I didn’t see one in any Under hood pics.

I haven’t had time to sit down and fight my brakes some more, just trying to get ducks in a row for when I do.

No prop valve here. Seems to stop pretty evenly. @clrussell

Over the last couple of weeks as I had time I’ve been making a tire and cooler carrier. Finished it up last night. View attachment 3133462

I also changed the aluminum feed line to the sniper for a soft line to see if that squeal will go away. So far, no squeal. If this holds true after a couple weeks, I think I’ve got a plan. I’ll use a 45 fitting right at the sniper. Wondering if I just have a couple bends that are a little too tight and causing a velocity problem and harmonics. Just a guess at this point. I’m no fluid dynamics engineer.

So since I’ve seen this rig I always thought it had a 4 plus carrier. When I went back through the other day looking for brake info I found where you built this.

Well done!

What latch did you use? Seems like you or @Firemedic831 used a latch that looked very easy to use and wouldn’t rattle.

Thanks.

@clrussell My latch is a stock latch for the rear doors I got new from Toyota, then modified it. Mad the hook end and used some rubber bumpstops to keep it from rattling too much.

You can kind of see it all here.

I like that. Thank you for detailed pictures. I might steal This.

New oem latch from Toyota?
Yep, new oem from Toyota. It’s got the angle on it to fit the split rear lower doors. I just cut the angle off. It is stiff to open the latch but it doesn’t rattle so that’s a plus.

Just reading through this today. Great build, and I'm glad you got your daily driver that you can feel comfortable throwing a dead elk in.

Do you have a thread for you 60?

Here you go.

Not a ton of updates to either thread lately. 60 has been the daily all winter with the chemicals they put on the roads here and been house hunting. Bought a pre foreclosure house a couple months ago and frantically getting it move in ready. Then I’ve got some updates in the works….

@Skreddy what size is your cooler? Im planning out my rear carrier build and looking at sizes.

I actually was looking at that same company cooler You have and didn’t realize it until I came here to ask about size. How happy are you with the cooler? It’s fair priced. I don’t need ice for 2 weeks, I just want me beer cold over the weekend.

I’ve got 2 of the 45 qt (one for each cruiser) and a 110 for travel trailer camping. They keep ice every bit as long as my friends yeti coolers do. I’ve been really happy with them and have had our big one 4 years now I think.
I got a net for the inside of the lids and a basket that sits in the top groove from Amazon too. Can’t remember the sizes but they are pretty handy to keep stuff in that you don’t want wet or crushed by ice. I also cut down a plastic cutting board that fits the middle divider to keep things separate/hold beer cans upright.

CaterGator is the brand for anyone else that’s curious.

Thank you! I added it to cart.

I originally found them with the sea foam color. But not sure I can commit to that color, I’m a neutral gray color most of the time.

Been awhile since I’ve posted on this thread.

Today was Christmas tree day! Took the 40 instead of the 60, mostly because we were going with 3 other couples who all drive 4 door rubicon jeeps. We showed up in the 40 and none of them drove their jeeps. 2 in 1 ton diesels and one in a Tacoma. That part doesn’t matter but….. you’ve got an outfitted rubicon and drive a 1 ton on street tires to the mountains?! I had shovels, snatch blocks, straps, 4 wheel chains…. Didn’t even need 4 wheel drive. I digress. 5 other kids besides mine and all of them wanted to ride in the 40. Even the parents thought the inward facing rear seats were neat.
