Hey folks,

So I have to stare at my crusty 283, and a giant spaghetti monster of wires and hoses every time I pop the hood of my 40. I need some inspiration! I will hopefully be getting new Valve Covers/Manifold/Air Cleaner before too long. I'd like to see how other folks have routed their hoses and wires to make their engine bay a little "prettier" than the usual rat's nest.

Also, I currently have no radiator overflow bottle, so I'll need to find somewhere to squeeze that as well.

Let's see em!

Check out my garage for a picture of a clean engine for a little motivation dressing yours up, it's just not in the engine bay right now.

Looks good! I don't even need mine to be a work of art...I just need to find a better way to route all the rubber - particularly the spark plug wires.

1996 5.7l vortec. It's pretty crowded in there now and I plan to add the Chev cruise control in the future, so it will get a little more crowded. :)

Very inspiring work there humiajuminia. I plan on using those now. I just need to dig deep into the parts stash to get the funds.

Steve (Poser), what kind of injection is on that motor?

Thanks, all, for the responses. Keep em' coming! particularly those of you running the carbed Gen 1's

Well I started out with this after I brought it home and degreased everything. The only change I had made at this point was adding aluminum valve covers and a new thermostat housing. Its a gen 1 SBC 350 crate motor with a Rochester Quadrajet. Similar to what you have.

Now it looks like this (I'm still cleaning up the wiring and other misc stuff).

And a couple more...

I do have a couple of wires for the oil and Water gauges that need to be tidied up. I find the ignition wires running over the manifolds to be messy... although it does work, and I'm not one to be critical.

I just lucked out and got a motor that came with Ram Horns on it.

Tidy work in progress with a complete re wire, but the spark plug inspiration is there.
