Engine Bay colors (1 Viewer)

Looking at number of 40 series and have noticed that the engine bays are a different color than the body. Is this normal from the factory or a sign of repainting of the exterior and the engine bay is the original color.

Engine bay and body were the same color from the factory for my 1976 forty.

Depends on your year40

I believe we narrowed it down to 66’-on were body color

Pre 65’ had black lower inner fenders firewall and under hood

65 had a mix of just under hood and just firewall and under hood

I think that’s what we have found … maybe @Living in the Past may have a better memory for that … I’ve been out of sorts recently

Engine bay same color as the body on my 72 blue. Repainted body and inside the cab flat tan about 1983

This is a '78 BJ40 that is tan on the exterior but this is the color of the engine bay.

Original body color was red… tan was sprayed on outside

Somebody liked tan more than a red cruiser

Maybe it's a rare Louboutin 40.

Then it would only be red on the underside of the floor panels.
