Spotted: curious feline stocks two Cruisers in attempt to hijack their sleeping quarters.

Is this at your house or does your cat hang around camp with you?

We have 2 cats that often travel with us.

CruiseHer run will be Tuesday heading to Red Mountain mining then those who are done can head back to camp and those who want more challenge we will head another trail to be announced by @80Lady

Group Photo and Raffle is Wednesday afternoon, plan to be back at camp around 2:00p,we will start gathering for group photo around 3:00p.

All other days are open for what ever kind of trail or day you’d like to have.

**TRAIL LEADERS**
Please remember to send Gabe, @mesaman, your trails for the first few days so we can have the white board filled in Sunday evening / Monday morning so SASers can see what’s available.

Regarding my long Bolam Pass run, which I'm aiming to do Thursday ... 130 mile trip or a 155 mile trip? I found a nice extra loop I can add on that circumnavigates the Lizard Head Wilderness. I've never done the extra loop but in my research I can see almost all of it continues the easy graded dirt road theme of the rest of the trip. There's a short stretch that's unknown, but hey - let's call it an adventure! We'll have enough knowledgeable people and recovery gear, and make smart decisions on the ground.

This run will include Lime Creek and potentially Last Dollar Roads (depending on time and how we're all feeling towards the end of the day) this year for sure. Bolam Pass ... now with more dirt! Couple of additional stops for waterfalls and old CCC infrastructure too.

Hey, I’d be happy to tail gun for this trip if you need one.

Cheers, James

Happy Fourth of July Sassers!

You can skip this if you don’t have a programmable GMRS radio. For those who do you might want to add:

You will probably never need this, but if you do you will be glad to have it.

Less than a month out. I leave to hotshot 2000 miles across country in 26 days. I am still wrapping up a few things and have to help get a few others ready to make the trip. I really want to thank all of those who started this event 9 years ago and have allowed me to attend and meet so many cruiser heads. I hope to meet a few more this year.

As my 40 sits as I ponder what is the next thing to do.

I hope everyone gets all their prep done and has a great week at SAS 9!

I assume you take 70 the whole way?
We’re planning on leaving Indy Friday morning, not particularly early, and at least start out on a basically 36 route across. Gives us the option to go slow or jump on 70 if the cruiser will handle it. I usually make it to Colorado Springs or Mitchell SD on day one in the Tundra. This is a little different.

Never been out there on anything but interstate but have motorcycle buddies that think 36 is the only way to go.

I64 to I70, then head down towards Colo Springs and over the mountain. I am pulling a gooseneck this year pulling two 40's so I will take as much highway as I can.

You guys are getting me excited. I will be heading around the mountain from Hermit Lakes on Sunday afternoon and most likely via Highway 50 from Lake City, though I might go through Silverton. I will probably see some of you out there.

I am fixing a few more things that sprung up on my third shakedown run. I’m going to stop calling them shakedown runs when I come home without anything to reconfigure. Ha! I resealed the rear axles, put some plastic weld epoxy on my windshield washer reservoir, and I refilled my shocks. One shock lost pressure for some reason so I will have to watch that. Everything is tight. Maybe I forgot to fill it all of the way? The Cruiser goes in finally to have the top made on Monday and they will have it for 2 weeks.

I also installed all 4 seat belt and I have plenty of room for passengers if anyone wants to ride with me. My initial rider had a change in their schedule and can’t go.

My radio has all of the GMRS channels uploaded and I followed @Ditcherman’s recommendation to hit a local repeater to test my signal. I was hard to hear when I was moving but I have a feeling that most of us with FJ40s would expect that, especially without a top. I have a hard time hearing my passengers while I am going down the road.

Safe travels!

I'll be home Friday, the 11th, from my work trip. Hopefully to a pile of trailer parts. Axle swap, lights and safety chains. May have another out of town gig before departure. Fortunately, the truck is mostly done (you know what I mean), just need to hammer home on the trailer.

Tick tock...

Rig looks great

Haven't looked at the 80 since I got home from the Rubithon  the armor took a beating but that's what it's there for right. Every piece needs to be repainted.
It ran perfect so I don't think I need to do any more then my pre-run check

I’ll be down in Angel Fire a couple days early as well. I’ve got camping land in the mountains if anyone is interested.
